The apartment was filthy when we moved in. The carpet wasn't cleaned, the bathroom wasn't clean, and the oven hadn't been cleaned. Instead of hiring painters, they hired someone to dose the entire apartment in paint. All doors, flooring and clothing bars were covered. We had to scrap the paint of the clothing bars ourselves because our clothing was being ruined by the flaking paint.
When discussing staying for another year came about, a second lease is mandatory unless you are willing to follow what will be in the lease which will be no less than 100 to 150 about their standard rates. We were verbally told be several staff members that they would give us a lease for the same rate. But, then one day 2 of their staff showed up at the door saying that if we don't agree to an increase and sign a lease today, then we would have to pay more the following day. Their scare tactics and lease may be legal, but their behaviour isn't ethical.
