I previously reviewed Breckenridge, but more things have happened since then.
1. When we moved in, the carpet in the common area was new. Now the carpet is dirty, stained, and smells bad.
2. The glass boarder to the back entrance was broken for almost a year before they fixed it. Our cat had slipped out of our unit and escaped the complex via the broken hole in the glass.
3. Sometime after the cat incident, the back entrance door broke off of it's hinges. The only thing keeping this door up was the device that pulls the door shut. This door was left broken for weeks.
4. During the yearly inspection (both of them), I was informed that rent would be raised $50. If I had signed a new lease, my rent would have been $700 a month!
-I told them that I could not afford that, and couldn't afford my current rent, and therefore would not be signing a new lease. I was told to let them come up with an offer before I decided to leave. I made an appointment for them to come by and negotiate a new price and they never showed. A few days later, I dropped by the office to discuss this with them. Their offer was to not raise my rent $50 (even after telling them I could no longer afford the $649). They then proceed to show me this "Cost of Moving" sheet. Things listed on this sheet were "The value of your time 25hrs @ $15 an hour", "The value of your friends time 10 - 15 hours @ $15 an hour", as well as the usual deposit, cost to switch utilities. I still did not re-sign with them.
5. Also during the yearly inspection: I told them AGAIN about issues I was having with the apartment from the inspection before. The wall behind the toilet is STILL soft and soggy. The burnt/melted tiles in the kitchen, that they mention fixing during the first inspection, are still not fixed. The faces of the vinyl tiles in the storage room are peeling off. The corner in the master bedroom and walk-in closet are still cracked. The bathtub looks disgusting from the paint that has chipped off from when they painted it. The paint from the window sills still continues to chip off. The woman that did the inspection appeared to be filling out a checklist, much like the one that we filled out when we moved in --but she wasn't doing enough writing to match up with the issues I was telling her. She also informed me that the copy they were supposed to have of the move-in checklist was missing---she went on to tell me that was a common problem with tenants that signed their lease with Jay. The woman doing the inspection really didn't look at anything either. She briefly glanced into the rooms, said that everything looked fine, and then just bs'ed with us for the remainder of her visit.
6. We've had a BAD bug problem this year. We had an ant problem in the bathroom, kitchen, and living room. We had issues with bees and wasps coming into the apartment through the air-conditioning unit. They sent an exterminator out and he barely sprayed (like, I showed him the area, he saw a bug and only sprayed where the bug was). One Sunday night, we came home to a Bed Bug notice on the entry door. That noticed stayed up approximately 12 hours before being removed from all buildings(I wonder why). I inspected my bed and furniture for the little creatures and luckily found nothing.
7. The common area lighting on our level is completely out. There are 3 lights, one above each stairwell and one in the actual hallway. ALL of them are out and have been for about 2 or 3 weeks now. At night, I can't see well enough to get my key in the door and I do not feel safe.
I'm sure that there is other stuff that I am forgetting at the moment.
Either way, DO NOT RENT HERE!

I can acknowledge that the complaints you mentioned above are accurate from observing them myself. The maintenance is awful, the staff is unprofessional and the pest control problems are very bad. Please, please, please do not rent from this apartment complex, you will regret it. Just read the comments below and proceed with caution.
