I had to pay an extra $650 dollars because I was the third student sharing a year lease and assumed it ended on the year date. Turns out it doesn't end until you give 45 days notice (a full 15 over what is required by Ohio law) so I am paying for an extra 40 days of rent for a place that wasn't worth 600 bucks a month in the first place. They did give me a notice- a folded half sheet of paper in a plastic baggie on my doorknob- 8 days before I was planning on moving. Not only that, but the staff is not flexible and would not bump up my apartment on the list to be rented so that I may get some of that wasted money refunded. There is goose poop all over the sidewalks, the lawns are mowed maybe once every 2-3 weeks, and the geese can keep you up all night long.

I actually worked at Channingway when this person lived there (don't work there any more) but the 45 day notice policy is VERY clearly stated in every lease signed. I guess I don't see how the staff was at fault because she didn't bother to read what she was signing. As far as "bumping up" her apartment, that is called steering and is against fair housing. How would you like it if you were forced to take an apartment you didn't want b/c this girl wanted to re-coup some money she lost by being careless and not reading what she agreed to. And for the geese, what are we supposed to do about them...shoot them? Lady, if you know of a humane way to get rid of geese I'd LOVE to hear it but as far as I know there really isn't anything that can be done about them.
