Getting better, based on move-out experience

I had a lot of issues with the complex when I lived there. I had to write letters to have minor things fixed in the apartment, and the management was nowhere to be found.
When I moved out, I was surprised to receive a letter stating that not only was I not receiving my deposit back but that I owed them money! After all, I had kept the apartment in great condition and had done nothing to damage it in any way.
I called and left an abrupt message with the management and sent e-mails to their corporate office. I heard back later in the week from the apartment's office, and for the first time I felt like I was treated fairly.
The manager discussed and explained the charges, took off the incorrectly billed charges from a software glitch, and corrected errors made by the staff that originally generated my lease agreement. In the end we agreed to call it even, and I was not billed.
After experiencing 2 years of management staff that talked out of both sides of their mouth, it was refreshing to hear that this manager was sent to set the property on the straight and narrow. She invited me to return just to look at the property in a few months just for curiosity's sake (we moved out and into a house).
The actual living experience is OK and, from what I heard, should markedly improve. The management does answer the phone now, and the maintenance staff responds to calls relatively quickly.
I am hesitant to give a recommendation for this complex, but based on the fair and honest treatment I received after moving out, I would say that it's worth a shot.
