I have lived in Cobblestone Grove Apartments for almost 2 years now and wouldn't recommend anyone to move there. I am too embarrassed to even invite people over to my apartment due to the atrocious state of the common areas in the complex.
When I moved in I was told I would be getting new appliances within 6 months, it was promised to me that the hallways in the buildings were being repainted and refurbished, I was told the security system in the building was fully functional - these were all lies. The appliances in my kitchen are older than me, the hallway constantly smells of garbage and baby diapers because they refuse to clean it, and my security door still doesn't work - after 2 years. I've never even seen the hallway light work in the back stairs of my building - for 2 years! It just flickers and flickers.
My water bill is hinky. I live in the city of Fairfield yet my water bill goes to some company in Dayton or somewhere... Its called heartland regional power company and basically they take the water cost and the electric cost (of the 'common' areas) for the entire complex and divide it up amongst the tennants. My bill ranges from $35 - $55 a month. Now call me crazy, but I thought the water costs (for the pool and laundry facilities) and the electric costs (for the hallways, offices, and parking lots) were supposed to be included in the rent. Isn't that what rent is for' Aren't you supposed to be paying for all the amenities offered' Rip off.
I was told a few months ago they were going to paint the buildings to give the complex a fresh new color scheme. My buildings are covered in aluminum siding. That's correct - they PAINTED the siding!! Now I have paint all over my patio doors that won't wash off - BECAUSE ITS PAINT! The old color was a very nice pale yellow with white trim. Now the buildings are these ugly, dark colors. Burnt orange, burnt brown, and forest green. If I'm remembering correctly, those are the colors no one ever wanted to use the crayon box when I was little. They are the worst colors and now I live in them.
The management staff at Cobblestone Grove are very nice people until you sign the lease. Then they treat you like your bothering them to rent a garage or get a key to the pool. A year ago, the mailbox hanging on the office where we used to leave our rent checks got stolen. Management didn't even bother to let anyone know about the incident. The only way I found out was by calling the office on the 15th of the month to find out why my rent check wasn't cashed yet. When I went in to give them a new check they were actually filling out forms to CHARGE tennants late fees because their rent checks were STOLEN!
And one other thing - read your lease carefully. They will contact you at the end of your lease to find out if your going to move or not. If you say your not ready to move then they tell you you MUST sign a whole new lease (for another year of hell) and oh by the way, your rent just went up a hundred dollars. If I would have read my lease more carefully I would have told them to shove it. You do NOT have to renew your lease and your only supposed to be charged extra rent if you want to go month to month after the lease is expired. 3mPoZ6gGN6wTPgNi4L2C

i agree! this place is something ... the office staff does make you feel like you actually owe them something..i hate going there because they never answer the phone, so you have to go to the office, always a line of people waiting and the ladies are always on the phone chatting on the cells , turned with their backs to you. how do you like that?very unproffesional!!!!!or they can put up a sign that they are showing a "luxury" apartment but the truth is -they are gone!!!! once i had to wait at the door for about 20 minutes and nobody showed up, and i can see their cars from my kitchen window, they never came back!and the tech guys think they can park wherever they want to// tired of that too..
