Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
I have lived in Fairfield Pointe for the last year and have had a very negative experience. I was looking for a quiet neighborhood that was safe. I understand about apartment noise levels so that has never been a problem. I paid the extra to get an apartment that only has 3 neighbors with the extra space. It measures at 1000 square feet. The apartment was nice when you just glanced but after looking a bit closer I noticed a lot of flaws. My toilet was cracked, the windows have a tendancy to pop out and my balcony door wouldn't lock. The list goes on from there. When they finally replaced the balcony door, they left nasty little screw tips poking out in patio floor. Very nice to step on. The nice quiet neighboorhood that we were promised was null and void. We had youth throwing mud balls at our windows, sitting on our car, throwing balls by our car and on occasion hitting it. The car ports that they have out front of our apartment are a great place for these youth to climb and jump on and of course they choose to do this in the middle of the night. I have complained repeatedly to the new management and they say it is our responsibility to phone the police, which I have done several times. My new car has scratches all over its trunk from the youth sitting on it. I also had a dog for a short period of living here. I paid the deposit and the extra rent per month. When I took the dog out I usually took it down to the field and picked up after it. However other people in the neighborhood continued to bring their dogs to the front of my building. I finally said forget it and just did what my neighbors did. However a complaint was lodged against me very quickly and I resumed using the dog bags. When I saw the rest of the people still letting their dogs do their business in front of my building without cleaning it up, I lodged a complaint so that fairfield pointe knew it was not my dog. I was told they couldn't single anyone out (that was crap because they singled me out), and that it was too hard to write a newsletter about cleaning up after your dog. They told me to follow the person after his dog was done and write down their address. Like I have nothing better to do with my day. The facilities that they rave about is not what it is cracked up to be. The exercise equipment is really old. They promised to replace it about eight months ago and we have yet to see it. The security gates they were supposed to have were torn out (they didn't work when I moved in) The second pool is only partially up. In the laundry building half the washers and dryers don't work. They just installed two trash compacters for the entire complex. They removed all of the trash cans and left the compacters. They have been up only a week and already there is garbage backing up onto the street in front of the compacter. I am just getting ready to move out. My carpets are in great shape, I am painting the walls and filling the nail holes. I am leaving the apartment better then I got it. I am more than positive that they will try and find away to keep my deposit. They also sent a letter around to everyone that they can charge you more than your deposit if they want after you move out. Kind of defeats the purpose of a deposit if I'm not mistaken. I also agree with the problem with parking. You always have to park way down the street. These are just a few of my gripes about Fairfield Pointe. I have an even longer list if I really wanted to get picky. I would not recommend it to anyone.
