Started bad, got worse...

Move in day: we were told we could get our keys at 5PM. Came at 4:30 and the manager could not have been ruder. I gave it right back and she gave me the keys. The apartment was not the one we were told we'd be moving in to, and had not been cleaned at all (not even carpet vacuumed, but was painted - with the cheapest paint available evidently) and had cigarette butts in every toilet and sink, and ash on the kitchen and bathroom floors. The list of damage that had not been repaired was a couple of pages long (so we wouldn't be charged at move-out). Went back to the manager, complained, again was met with total disrespect, a "cleaning crew" of 2 women showed up and "cleaned" the apartment in 30 minutes. We couldn't move in that night as we had to stay up late actually making it liveable, as we were told it was too late to back out of the lease, and they would NOT give us another townhome. The oven element we found out was bad, and were told that it would be "a few days" 'till someone could get to it (10 minute repair) so after 2 days, we called the regional Fath manager and complained, someone from corporate came and fixed the stove (was a total jerk about it, complaining the whole time) and she apologized for the state at move-in. Fast forward through months of unresponsive repair requests (but they sure can get warnings for car and patio violations out quickly!!), someone murdered near our back yard, 2 dumpsters with garbage piled up in front of them on a daily basis (racoons, skunks, dogs, cats, opossums, flies, maggots...), shoddy repairs when done at all, exterior lights out and never replaced, nearly no snow removal, VERY shady people moving in in droves (with many apartments seeming like revolving doors for migrants)... Get the picture' And don't bother going to the staff with any complaints or requests, if they're polite about it they'll never go anywhere, but usually you're met with a friendly voice 'till they find out you're already a resident or are calling for a repair, then the Jekyll/Hyde switch comes out instantly. AVOID!!
