my family and i moved in to the apartments when town properties still owned it. We had no problems. The apartment was freshly painted brand new carpet, a leasing agent even walked through with me and we wrote down everything from maintance issues to just simple little things, so we wouldn't be held accountable when we moved out. We were so happy with this apartment community. Then a few months later we received the worst news letter ever to be delivered to our door,It said that Connor and Murphy was taken over. I about got sick to my stomach, I worked in the apartment business for 2yrs with a fantastic company out of Columbus, so I knew what Connor and Murphy was all about. I told my husband that night that this place was going to go down, And it did.
Heres an example, we lived on the top floor, well we had problems with animals living in our ceiling, thought it was just squirrels and birds, no we had a whole family of racoons up there. I would always hear them over our master bedroom and living room area. Then I started to notice yellowish brown spots in the ceiling, so I knew now we had a huge problem. I had to call maint. a few times, and I would hear the same thing over and over, we don't see anything up there, and those spots are from when the new siding was put on and there was some water damage. Sorry but the siding is located on the outside right and the spots would of been around the edge of the ceilings not in the middle or near where the walls met. Well I knew they were full of it. We're the ones everynight hearing them up there. After about 2 weeks of dealing with this we went out to our storage closet on the balcony and opened it up to get our little girls bike out,everything we had in there was shreeded and torn to pieces. All of holiday decorations ect.. and there were racoon babies everywhere. Finally I called the health department to see if they could help us with the situation, and then i called maint. and left a message of what happened and who I contacted, needless to say someone was at my door with a hour. There resolution was to put a cage on our patio to trap the racoon,for four days we couldn't go on to our patio because one the racoon was in the trap he was there for a day before they would come and get him. So he/she tore up the screens and pooped and pee everywhere. I wasn't going out there until they came back and cleaned it up. Then it took another 2 weeks before they fixed all of the fece spots in the ceilings.And that alone took a week of them cutting out the ceilling putting new pieces of insulation in and patching it up, Till the day we moved out they never came back and painted it to match, it was just dry wall patch, and then they try charging us for it. And we had to make numerous phone calls about mold growing up our wall in the laundry room, it took them over a week to come out after i had to threaten them that i was going to call and report them. We were only there for about a year and half (TOOOO long) before we left, and I think I dealt with 5 different property managers. It seemed you would have an issue talk to someone, and a few months later when you are following up on it they would have no clue what you were talking about because someone new was in there replacing the other one. Just think twice, they're just their to collect the rent money to pay the mortage, they don't care if your happy or if everything in your apartment is ok.
