I'm furious!! Any advice'

Here's the deal. They made me move in two weeks early when I signed in order to get an apartment I had actually seen in advance. For doing so, I got $400 off my first month's rent. I had to sign a paper saying that if I didn't fulfill the full 12 months of the lease, I would have to repay that money. Which made me assume it was possible to break the lease.
Well, I just bought a house....well, I signed the paperwork for the house, just haven't closed yet. I contacted the office to find out what the penalties were for breaking the lease. They told me it wasn't possible. I referred to the paper I signed, and they stated that was in the case of eviction. I have no option other than to pay out the lease. Which sucks, but I was prepared for it. Then came the kicker....
We have to pay communal gas, water, and trash....which is a bunch of bull!! It's $80 bucks a month. My trash and water bill at my huge new house will be less than that! Anyways, I was told that, even though I will not be using the water or placing my trash in the dumpster, even if I HAND IN MY KEYS, I am responsible for the communal gas, water, and trash until the end of my lease. It somehow doesn't seem legal to charge me for utilities I will not be using. I'm a little upset about that one.
Anyways, I started looking on here to see if anyone had broken a lease, and now I'm scared. When we saw the place, it hadn't been cleaned yet. The carpet looked crappy, but we were told it would be cleaned before we moved in. There were stains, and I asked if the carpet would be replaced if the stains weren't removed. They looked at me like I had three heads and said they don't replace carpet for stains. Well, when we moved in, it was pretty good....there were a few stains (which I documented in my paperwork thank GOD), but a lot of the stains were treated in front of us the day we moved in and disappeared....which meant we didn't include them. Well, they came back pretty quickly. My fear now (after reading other postings) is that they are going to charge me for new carpet.
Also, I didn't pay a deposit....it was part of a move in special. There's nothing in the lease paperwork that states I have to clean the place. Since I have no deposit for them to pull from (and EVERYBODY says they took the deposit for cleaning), will I get a bill for cleaning if I don't do it' I feel that, since they will be paid for three full months of me not living here, they don't deserve my time in scrubbing floors and cleaning toilets.....actually, with the way they've treated me, I want to dirty it up a bit before leaving....
Advice' Personal experience' Please share.
Oh, and for those that don't live here yet....RUN.

If you didnt send them a certified letter then you are screwed, pretty much. I am currently in a battle with them and they couldnt care less about any situation I am in a long as I ay the rent. Well surise to them, their rent check will be going n escrow and they can kiss my ass. I have hated this place from go and the only way out of your lease is through the proper legal channels. Just to let you know they a nothing but a bunch of money hungry slum lords from the bottom of that company to the top. I have talked to everyone in the chain of command and not one of them is worth a ----!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea you probably are not going to be able to get our of your lease. That is a legal binding contract unfortunately. And they are IMPOSSIBLE to deal with. This is the worse place I have EVER lived in as far as management and I can't wait until the day my lease is up and I can flip them off on my way out! The Connor Group sucks so bad. I wish some how we could all get on TV and share our experiences to keep new people from moving in. Most people probably do not read this message board but the watch the news! I would love to hurt their "business" so they would have a bunch of empty apartments and no money coming in for them. They SUCK SUCK SUCK! Good luck to you - I feel really bad for you......

They will still charge you with no deposit. We also didn't pay a deposit but about two months after we moved out we were being threatened to pay a $300 fine for cleaning....which is bs because we spent hours cleaning when we moved out....they give you an itemized list of what they are charging you and it is ridiculous. $50 to clean the fridge-50 to clean the the stove both of which we cleaned upon our exit. They also charged $100 or so because the tile around our bath tun was damaged because of the water that leaked from the tub...which we had asked them to fix and they never did.... they also charged us for a screen that literally fell out of our patio doors about a month after we moved in. Just be prepared to pony up the funds...they are going to take from you anything they can get and I feel for you because we've been there! Good luck!

I tried to get out of my lease when my boyfriend beat me and I feared for my life. I even sent the paperwork to a lawyer and it was legally binding so they offered me a different apartment on the property. You could find a sucker to occupy the apartment for the remainder of the lease but you probablyy will still charge you for cleaning. They told me when I moved out they don't replace the carpet because it is cheaper. I think that is absolutely gross! Good Luck with them because they wont' do anything to help you.

I hate the Connor Group!! I live at one of their other properties in Oakley (Brookstone) and have had multiple issues with the management. I posted under a rating for Brookstone (I paid my rent a day late and got served papers for eviction). The Connor Group reminds me of used car salesmen...shady!!! Anyone else interested in contacting John Matarese with Channel 9??? Seriously....let's bring them down!!! Don't want anybody else to "waste their money" b/c I sure have!!!
