Have been happy here...

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
My roommate and I looked at all the complexes that sit on the corner of Kemper and Norbourne/Mandarin (Kensington Park, Remington Place and Mill Run) and out of the three, Kensington Park was the best overall value. We have a 3br/2bath, lake view apartment and I would have to say, you do get alot for what you pay. Parking is decent but if you arrive home late, you may not be able to park right in front of your building. The maintenance guys did a pretty good job in keeping the lot clear after the recent snow and ice storms, but it was difficult for them to adequately clear it until all the cars were gone.
Pros: The living room is good sized, the kitchen feels bigger than it actually is b/c it has a breakfast bar that opens to the living room; the br's are decent sized; the bathrooms have real tile (not the cheap surrounds); the deck is adequately sized for quite a few people; the swimming pools are kept very clean; office will hold packages from UPS, FedEx, etc if you are not home to accept them
Cons: The lake is not always kept up like it should be, there are pieces of trash on the shore that need to be picked up and is not done regularly; the ancillary charges on your monthly water bill seem to be excessive (trash, community lighting, service fees, etc) so a 35.00 water bill turns into 55.00 very quickly; the kid's play area is lacking and not very enjoyable by most kids; the only people who can fish form the shore are those who live within the fenced-in area of the lake, others are locked out or need to fish from the dock/seating area (which has considerable debris in the water so your line is apt to get caught).
Overall, I would recommend Kensington Park to anyone looking for a place to live. The reason I am leaving is that I have bought a house so I no longer need an apartment, otherwise, I would have re-leased with them. One suggestion I would offer to Kensington is to remove the words "Luxury Apartments" from the signs...the apartments are nice, but not what I would deem to be "luxury".
