Caution!!!!

My mother and I moved into Christopher Wren January 2007. Since we have been here things are not all they seem. Yes, parking is good, and so far noise is to a minimal, overall pretty quite. The staff has been friendly whenever you go to the office.

Now for the drawbacks and complaints.

First. There is only one trash compactor for the whole complex. Currently we live on the other side of the complex from it. Also, since most people here don't really know how to use it, they dump their trash bags on the ground by the compactor. So sometimes you can't even get close enough to put your trash in. A lot of the times I have to bring my trash back and leave it in the garage until maintenance comes and cleans it up over there. Trash here is a big hassle, plus it stinks over there from tenants leaving garbage on the ground. That is number one!

Second. Upon move in the Townhouse unit was not cleaned properly. It looked okay if you walked through, but with further inspection, things like, the kitchen floor, Water heater, heating and air ducts, along with the garage was absolutely disgusting. Also where the furnace was, was very dusty and caked with chunks of dust bunnies and dirt where the air comes in for it to heat. Whoever had the unit before us must have been here for many years as the build up of dirt throughout was quite a bit. I believe the previous tenant was elderly.

Third. The master bedroom is infested with pepper mites. We did not realize this when we first moved in. The first night my mother slept in that room, she kept feeling like she was being bitten by something, but when she'd go to look, never saw anything. Once this experience kept happening night after night we finally realized something major was in that room. You just couldn't see it. So with many hours of research and labeling all the symptoms from these things, we found it was a form of mite, called pepper mites. When they bite it feels like a burning sting! Some bites are worse than bee stings in my opinion. The bad thing is there is no real way of getting rid of them. many people have to completely throw out there clothes and even furniture. So without much more explanation we are very upset and disappointed. We expected that for $840 plus a month for rent and water, that these units should be very well kept up and clean!!!! Ours was not, and now we may have to get rid of almost everything we have in this house, just so we don't take any of these bugs with us. They are very hard to get rid of and kill. Most people can manage them only to some extent!!! That's only if your willing to shell out a lot of money to buy the different products you need to sort of kill/keep them under control. As far as I can see, moving here has been one of the most costly apartment/townhouse we have ever rented, considering the prospect of having to get rid of all of your things!

As of right now March 29th 07, we are writing to the landlord for an immediate let out from our lease. Hopefully things will end amicably between us. If not, we determined that these bugs are not worth any amount of rent, and will be leaving if something can not be done.

Fourth. After we had been in our unit for 3 weeks we had given them a list of things maintenance should fix. That was on February 8th 07. It's now almost April first and still two months later they have not come to fix anything. Everything that needed repair from the time we moved in is still broken. So between the horrible bugs and and a non existent maintenance team, this place is no better than a $500 apartment, only they're charging you close to $900 a month.

My warnings, Stay away from Christopher Wren. The only luxury you get is being able to move!
