Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
I moved to Tara in October of 2008. I was shown the apartments by a very nice man, I believe his name was Jamie. The apartment on the surface was alright and as I was nine months pregnant, we were kind of on a time crunch. I would have been better off on the street.
Every room had problems. The sliding glass door in the living room was new, but it did not lock and was painted shut and a cable sticks out from the wall with bare wires that I had to cover with electric tape to protect my daughter. The kitchen sink leaked for ten months, I called repeatedly to get it fixed to no avail.
In August I turned on my garbage disposal and sludge filled both sides of my sink. It smelled putrid. Then it burst a pipe spilling the sludge all over my kitchen floor. When I called to get someone to fix it, the manager Chyrl, told me I would just have to deal with it till Monday(it was tursday evening). I told her I did not think it was safe for my infant to be breathing that in and that I had to have access to clean water and she told me that was not her problem, to call the owner. The owner was even worse. Her name was Ann and she told me if I did not like it that I could move out. I would have gladly at that point, but my husband was away in the army and my funds were quite limited. Finally after I contacted everyone short of my Senetor they offered to put me in the worst hotel in town until it was fixed. After reviewing the hotel I opted to stay with family. When they finnanaly fixed the sink they called me at seven am to tell me that I had inturrupted their weekend and that the garbage disposal exploding was my fault. Then she hung up on me.
The bathtub plug does not work. You have to stuff a cloth in the drain to get a bath. The downstairs bathroom door fell off it's hinges and the assistant manager came over to fix it, saying she would "------ rig" it until maintenece could get to it. I don't appriciate the racial slur, but I let it pass. The bolt on the door fell off and all the windows were painted shut when I moved in. The street light shines into my bedroom window and there are spiders and wasps everywhere. I found a wasp crawling in my infants crib. The walls are paper thin. The pool has rusy pieces sticking out and the playground equiptment can not be up to code. My air conditioner has broken down, no joke, six times. And i could buy the white house with what you pay in laundry (1.75 a small load, to wash and then again to dry.)
The neighbors are hard working and considerate, I've never had a problem with them. Maintenance keeps the yard well and shovel the snow immidiately and the private patio is nice. It's nice to see kids out front playing and it's always been pretty safe.
Mostly though... if you have a nice enough box... are a car you can sleep in... take that option, save yourself a terrible headache.
