So i have lived here going on two years and never really had any problems with the first apartment. My roommate and I loved these apartments when we moved in. We had a few things that needed addressed by maitenence but nothing big.
Well one of my friends noved in and right after moving in their dishwasher leaked and flooded the entire apt. They fought with management about moving into another apt and so on. Well they were told that they had to deal with corp on it.I couldn't believe the way they were being treated we had never had any kind of issue like this.
Then we got a new nieghbor next door and after talking to them they had a smiliar experience. The property manager could not do a thing things had to go through corp. My neighbors complaint is in here already. theirs is about the water leaking in their window every time it rains.
Ant then............... the experience comes for my roommate and I. We moved out of out apt and cleaned it up and down. The stove liners were the only thing I felt we maybe charged for but I didn't care it was same amt of $$ to go buy oven cleaner as it was to not get them completely clean and be chg'd $10 for it. So that was the only thing in question and a few spots on the carpet that I discussed w/ management that were in not way our fault bc the spots were not visible until carpet was cleaned. Also bc these spots were in places in which furniture resided the entire time we lived there. So.... we got our refund of our deposit and let me tell you there were absurd things on there that I know were clean and that were scrubed!!
After discussing these things w/ the property manager I was informed that even the smallest area of dirty or stain you are going to get chg'd for. For example the bottom of these tubs and showers stain very easly and apparently if the exact right chemical and tool is not used to clean it you will be chg's for it. And the kicker though the entire tub/shower is clean and just the floor of the tub/shower needs cleaned and was cleaned, you will get chg'd as if you never cleaned the stupid thing at all. I could not believe that I was understanding that correctly. What is the point of cleaning something that you know won't come clean bc you are going to be chg'd the same price if you cleaned it or not.
I live in a different apt here now and I wish I would have known this before I decided to stay here bc I would not have stayed for a second longer. I will tell everyone I know that considers Mid-Ohio Development Communities for a rental home to find some place else to go. I have lived in a few different complexes and known people that have lived in others and none this bad a charging you for things you have already cleaned. I guess you have to pay for a cleaning person to clean your apt whether it's clean or not.
I have printed off the company mission and vision statements along with there goals and I attend on asking corp what exactly they have this posted for if they are not being honest with residence and proir residence in charging absurd amts of $$ to clean thing that have already been cleaned. This is rediculous and I will not be treated like some one that just has money to hand out to a company to make them richer and everyone else poorer. For goodness sake you would think of how many people this has been done to you would think when you move into an apartment you wouldn'y have to worry about your floor tiles coming up, yellow stains on tile and freezing cold rooms bc of poor insulation. And for the price that people get charged even if we dont't have to pay a water bill. A year of water bills would have been cheaper than the amt of money taken from us when our lease was up. Lesson learned.. with the new apartment do a walk through!!! And to all others don't fall into the same trap!!

I totally agree with you on this. I worked for Mid-Ohio and all of this is totally true. I felt extremely bad always having to charge people for stuff they had already cleaned but that IS the way it is with this company. If there were a few hairs left on the baseboard in the bathroom or in the drawer in the bathroom, kitchen etc...I would have to charge the resident to clean the whole thing. You pretty much always lose your deposit if you move in and I constantly had to agrue with x-residents after move out over charges they felt they didn't deserve, it's unfortunate that this company is not more resident friendly and up to date with being an actual 'maintence' free apartment community like most and to but more cost in the budget for cleaning and maintence problems to please their customers which are the residents. They are what keep Mid-Ohio a float, they are the reason they are still in business. I am not for letting people walk all over you or not charge a dime when the apartment is actually dirty but if someone did actually attempt to clean you you notice that and can tell, you should refund the deposit to maintain a good reputation with x-residents for positive feed back. They would never listen to me or my co-worker who thought the same things, the problem is corporate and the non conforming managers they have running the place - hince the high turn over in property manangers at Bennington Pond. The problem is no one can run it better than the regional manager who use to run the property years ago and that person thinks no one is good enough or has good enough ideas...she needs to let go of control so much and actually accept new ideas and to be more pro-resident like almost all other communities in Ohio. Sorry you had these problems, it's really a shame and I totally agree with you.

sorry to hear bout your problem...as soon as I started to read your review I knew exactly who it came from (:
Since we have lived in the apartment we have never used the 2nd bathroom but since we have the puppy I just used it for the first time to give him a bath. I noticed that there were yellow spots all over the bottom of tub and I actually requested that to be cleaned when I moved in. It kind of slipped my mind since we never used the tub and it was never cleaned. I went over to the office and asked for it to be cleaned OR to mark it on my move in sheet b/c after reading all of this I want to make sure they not going to charge me when I move out. I was suppose to receive a phone call back to let me know wether it can be cleaned or not. That was a week ago. "Shockingly" I have not received any response which leads me to believe they hoping I forget again just so they can charge me for that when I move out ...your old neighbor (:
