Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009
I've lived in Carriage Hill for a year, and just recently made it out (Thank god). I've been reading all these reviews, and every single one is TRUE. Carriage hill apartments are horrible. The first apartment my husband lived had squirrels living in the ceiling. You could smell their urine throughout the house, and could hear them running around all night long. It took 8 months for them to finally listen to my husband and relocate him to new a apartment. Well, when they did they made him sign a new 16 month lease. He did that, but 12 months later out of no where we got a letter on our door saying our lease was up (thats right no phone call or anything). We had so many problems with them, that there was no way we were going to resign that lease. So we let them know that. A few days later we got a note on our door (again, no other communication) saying we need to be out by July 12th. We agreed and got our stuff out on the 11th. Now, the crappy part is that now that we're apartment hunting no one will except us because Carriage Hill is claiming they are evicting us. How are you evicting someone that doesnt live there!'
The list of complaints goes on those. Rude and loud kids, the managers NEVER return phone calls and never respond to complaints. There is massive flood damage from a month ago that still hasn't been taken care off. There is black mold growing underneath the wallpaper on the outside halls, that probably hasn't been touched since 1989. The walls are paper thin. And for whatever reason, in certain building it looks like a balcony was supposed to be built, but instead that decided not to, because halfway through the process they stopped. So if you have small children don't live on higher floors because you can literally open the door and walk off and fall to the ground.
Also each year, rent went up almost 50 bucks. The very first year we paid 460 a month, the next year it went up to 515. Then, if we would've renewed the lease our rent would've been 565. And for what, we didn't get anything new. And for the 2 years we lived there they never fixed one of the 3 pools they advertised. It's just broken with stagnant water in it.
Don't be tricked into believing the "show apartment" it looks nothing like the ACTUAL apartments you'll live in, only the managers get to live in those.
