The building itself is not so bad. The ceilings are really high, and my kitchen had nice appliances. However, there were quite a few bad things about the place.
1. First and most problematic: the noise. I heard every step my upstairs neighbors took, day and night. I once went to bed with two fans blasting on high, earplugs in my ears, and a pillow over my head, and I still couldn't sleep.
2. The place was so poorly cleaned when I moved in that there was literally still food in some of the kitchen cabinets
3. If you ever need to receive anything from UPS, you'll have to drive 15 miles to their distribution center because, for some reason, they could never get a key to the building
4. Millipedes and cockroaches
5. The shower water would alternate between ice cold and boiling in the span of a second
6. It had the craziest, smallest closets I've ever seen
7. Old, dark, dingy carpet
8. A security door that never closed
9. Outdated laundry equipment that ate quarters and made the whole building shake, though I was informed when I was first looking at the building that they would soon be getting new "Neptune" washers and dryers. What a joke.

Believe it or not, my biggest complaint isn't the building, it's the management. These people are totally incompetent. I was in violation of my lease the whole time I lived there because I could never get the proper lease attachment that I needed in order to have a pet. It also took three weeks and multiple phone calls to get a replacement door key, even though I was paying for it. I put in a service request when I first moved in. The guys showed up four days later, left to get something, and never came back. When I needed to talk to the manager, I called and left messages for two weeks before hearing back. Finally, there is a guy in the management office who is the biggest pompous jerk you will ever deal with. The only time he ever returned my phone call was to gleefully describe how they were going to screw me out of several hundred dollars. There are so many nice places to live in Lakewood.
