Just moved out after 3 years...

Ok, I should've moved sooner, but I really hate moving and loved the location. Like another reviewer said, the building has great potential. Management kinda kills it though.

I spent half of 2008 trying to get a leaking ceiling caused by a damaaged balcony above me repaired. While it was eventually repaired after about six months, the water damage was only partially painted over and just left as-is in the bedroom.

Like a few have mentioned, plumbing is an issue. Within three years, I had issues with both toilets and two of three sinks. None of them took less than 3 weeks to repair. The washer crapped out and leaked an entire load of water onto the floor, and wasn't repaired as of when I left. In the meantime, the office staff offered me a half roll of paper towels. Vince, the maintenance mananger (I believe) is a really nice guy, and he does good work, but he doesn't seem to have the number of people needed for a building of that size.

Someone mentioned the parking garage being great in the winter. I disagree, since it's only sporadically plowed. Going down an ice-covered ramp with concrete walls on either side isn't exactly healthy for my car.

Two or three times over the time I lived there, the office staff rejected packages that were being delivered because they were too big, and they didn't know how I would get them up to my apartment. They were all light enough to be carried and small enough to take up the elevator or stairs without an issue. This was really frustrating.

The A/C unit was older than me. I tried everything to get it repaired or replaced, but it never managed to sufficiently cool the apartment during the summers.

The exercise room is a joke. The last time I visited it, it was a home gym and an old treadmill.

And it's hard to talk about Castlewood without mentioning the elevators. Out of a full three years, literally about 60% of the time we operated with one working elevator. Usually down for a few days at a time, one was out of commission for about three months straight. In a 12-floor building, this results in a looooong wait or lots of stairs.

It's a nicer building, on the whole, than the others in the area. However, the price and poor upkeep make it defniitely worth avoiding. I'm incredibly glad to be out of that place.
