I am actually a bit sad to be leaving the Sheffield at the end of this month. As my first apartment in Lakewood, I loved it from day one and have had minimal problems with the AIY staff. They were quick to equip us with new, clean blinds at the beginning of our lease term, and followed up quickly when we needed a light fixed or our tub drain cleared out. The only problem with maintenance that I've had is that for an entire year, they have failed to return my calls or fix our buzzer in the lobby. Our visitors always have to call and one of us has to let them in each time. Our buzzer, when pushed, still rings to the last tenant's cell phone. Quite annoying.
However, all of our appliances have worked properly, the garage (where I parked) was always heated and the other tenants were respectful about keeping the door closed while coming and going. The grounds are well kept...did have some problems getting them to come out and salt the driveways in the winter though. Another great thing about the Sheffield is that our apartment was never cold in the winter. The heat was free and plentiful. Took some getting used to the noisy radiator sounds though (the colder it is, the louder they are!). Sometimes I could also hear our neighbor upstairs yelling obnoxiously, but that's nobody's fault but his.
Our windows face Lake Avenue and in the summer it's so nice to look out and see the trees, houses, etc. It's a nice view. very close to Lakewood park...I'm really going to miss this area. I've read some other bad things about AIY, but maybe they just take care of this building better' Who knows. It's a nice place.
