HORRIBLE - MANAGEMENT AND BUILDING

Walls are paper thin. I could hear entire conversations my neighbor had at a normal speaking tone. I heard my American Idol-wannabe neighbor belting out songs (badly) at the top of her lungs.

BUGS EVERYWHERE. I went through two bottles of RAID within a year killing the numerous house centipedes that were abnormally large. My house was infested with them. SO GROSS.

You can't open the windows because they swing away from the building, so they're constantly slamming shut when wind blows. Remember, this is just off the lake, so strong gusts are frequent. A couple of times I had to retrieve the screens from the ground, and I lived on the second floor.

Management was a nightmare. And when I say nightmare, I'm talking the kind where you try to wake yourself up but you can't. HORRID. They told me they couldn't give me receipts for my rent checks. No reason, they just couldn't. Extremely condescending for no reason. Staff changed frequently.

At one point, during heavy rains, I woke up to water POURING through the wall in my dining room. It wasn't coming through the window. It was coming through the wall at the top of the window. Management was responsive the next day, but not after I'd soaked several towels up all night.

Elevator was ATROCIOUS. LOUD, ALWAYS BROKEN, NEVER on track. Once, the elevator got stuck at around 4 a.m., and this loud humming noise continued for hours until the motor finally burned out. Guess how long it took to fix the elevator' Weeks.

You can't use the elevator to move in or out, either. If you do, you get fined.

I will say that I got my full deposit back. But that's the only positive thing I can say about this place and the management.

DO NOT LIVE HERE.

To be fair, this building was sold earlier this year to a new management company. A lot of those complaints would be problems at any apartment building, especially in Lakewood.

Why would you need a receipt for your rent check? Your canceled check is your receipt.
