My family just recently moved from Steeplechase. We didn't even know it was being sold, but you could definately tell when it was taken over. They started to do a lot of work on the outside of the apartments, but they are letting anyone who can come up with 1st months rent move in. Our last month there, we seen multiple fights in our parking lot, random dogs running loose and using the bathroom all over, and a nasty attitude from the people in the office. For our final month's bill, you have to go to the office to get the amount. I went on the 31st and the 1st and no one was at the office. I went in on the 2nd and they charged me additional $75 for being late!!! I asked to have it waived and the lady told me no. Then I spoke with another lady and she said that they'd see what they could do. Are you kidding me!! 2 years worth of on-time rent payments and they say NO!! The pictures I have attached is from a leak we had there. It took them 2 weeks to take care of it. In that time, I couldn't cook for my family, the bottom of my couch ended up all moldy, and my family had to stay in the back 2 bedrooms because the carpet in the dining room and halfway into the living room was soaked. We asked to be placed in a show apartment or to be put into a hotel but we were denied. They didn't even give us a break on our rent. The maintenance people were super nice to us but apparently the issue was so ongoing because we had a fill-in office manager who honestly could care less about us. We had to wait for our regular lady to get back from maternity leave to get the problem resolved. The fill-in even threatened my husband that if he came back to the office about the leak, she would have him arrested!! He wasn't even disrespectful, let alone a threat, to her. Anyways, when I turned in my key at the end of June, I had to wait 20 minutes. Then, I asked to leave my forwarding information so that I could get my deposit back, and she told me that wasn't necessary. I'd get my money after they did the inspection and they found the apartment to be in good condition. I asked when we could do the walk through and she said they don't do that with residents. I've never had an experience like this at any other apartment I've been at. From speaking with my neighbors, the majority of them have already put in their notice, or are planning to when their lease comes up (a total of 16 apartments from June to September). Good Luck New Company. If things don't change (including your new ways), Steeplechase will be the worst investment you ever made.
