Where do I begin' I have about 1 month till my lease is over and I cannot wait! I lived at a place that was $150 cheaper and wish I would've stayed there! We moved here for located, mistake #1. Rent was ok, buildings looked nice on outside, nothing spectacular.
Problem #1 -2 days after we moved in, we had a problem. The garage across from our patio, we're on 1st floor, was open and the person inside was a man who threatened my fiance at work and vandalized his car. Didn't they do a background/criminal check' Needless to say, we closed our blinds and blocked our patio door. The next day my fiance went in to explain what happened. I don't like living in fear! We didn't want to break our lease, we just wanted to move to another apartment, which I knew they had some available. They wanted us to pay a "$400 building transfer fee." WTF. They even called corporate and they wouldn't wave the fee, so we were screwed. We tried to leave when he wasn't there, but he like lived in his garage! Well, he saw us. I feel like we live in a cave! He would always rev his motorcycle engine ridiculously loud, it would shake the apartment. Did I mention he lived in the building next to us' Thank god nothing has happned.
Problem # 2 -, we got a dog. We had 3 days before we could return her to the store, in case we didn't get along. Day 1 after we had her they gave us a notice. When we signed the lease one thing that attracted us was that there was no pet rent. LIARS! $250 pet deposit and $25 pet rent. We had 48 hours to come up with the money. We gave it to the, signed the agreeement, and the next month they want a letter from our vet telling them how much she weighs. Sorry! I'm not paying a vet to give me a stupid letter that was not apart of the terms of the pet agreement. She barely comes up to my knee, how much do you thing she weighs'' I have seen labs in the dog park that are bigger than her' Why pick on me' To this day they have never gotten that letter because they don't need it!
Problem #3 - They come into your apartment 4 times a year to "change air filters, check smoke detectors, and "check other areas" hmmm. Check what "areas"' They never say...I saw the manager of the complex going through the garbage up front. How nice!
Problem # 4 - their carpet is cheap. My vacuum cleaner caught a corner and ripped it up. Oh well, I'll lose my deposit.
Problem # 5- the smoke detectors. So i liked the idea that if someone's smoke detector goes off in their apartment it will ring in the entire building. Well, some idiot does not know how to cook, or maybe smokes in their home. They set it off at least 2 times a week, usually early in the morning. It is LOUD!!!

Don't get atached to anyone in management, they all changed 1 month after I lived here. You can hear everything in the hallway, parking sucks at night, i have ants now and i don't know where they are coming from, storage in kitchen sucks.

Here's the ok part : never had a problem with the rent, good size bedroom closet, dog park, my electric bill is ok, good location. I have walked around the block alone a few times and feel safe.

You should have done your homework! Anything that is managed by Metro Communities is trashy! Enough said!

I realize that now! I'm definately doing a lot of research on wherever we move next. lol.
