I think this is a great place to live. Of course, if you're comparing it to a house, it will likely fall a little short. But how many suburban homes are wall-to-wall with the neighbors' home' The thing that's nice about living in an apartment is that someone shovels our driveway, takes our trash (great idea!), replaces our lightbulbs, fixes things that break, and basically takes care of the maintenance things that we would be doing if we were in a house.
I do hear occasional noises from our neighbors, and I have to admit there were a couple of times that I thought someone upstairs was actually trying to jump through our ceiling! However, I think the level of noise is perfectly acceptable for an apartment building, and most of the time, I don't even hear them even though I know they're home. To be fair, the last apartment complex I lived in, though nice, cost less than $500/mo. for a 1 bedroom, so I have little experience with apartments that are this expensive (and thus, little knowledge of the expectations that should come along with the extra expense). But I do think the noise level is much less than what I have experienced in the past, and as I wrote previously, I rarely hear the neighbors, unless they run, jump, or turn on something with running water or the vacuum.
The grounds here are very pretty, and the staff is always helpful and friendly. Whenever we need something, they are happy to provide it. They also organize a lot of community activities to help people meet their staff and neighbors.
I agree that there are sometimes kids running around, but I actually appreciate the family-friendly atmosphere. I do think that it's against the rules for the kids to run around unsupervised though, so that is a bit of a problem. I think the people in the office don't like to make a fuss about little things, but they do post reminders on the community channel. Since it obviously is bothering some people, they should take a more aggressive approach (like sending out reminders to everyone in the community or setting up a place for the kids to go when their parents aren't around) to be sure everyone understands the rules and follows them.
