We've had temps in the low 90's for a week. Islander decided last week to drain their disgusting lake, only they left the fish in the lake as they drained it. The fish had no where to go, they tried to all stay in small pockets of mud water and then eventually died. Islander left for the weekend, and left 4-5 pound carp etc laying in the sun, rotting, and birds of all types picking at the rotting fish, and fish small enough to stay alive in the mud water.
As soon as you turn down the street all you smell is rotting fish, it's absolutely DISGUSTING. I fish, I eat fish, dead fish isn't the problem. BUT it's one thing to catch a fish and eat it, or throw it back.. quite another to allow dozens of fish to run out of water and then lay in the sun as they die and rot.
Islander disgusts me, had this happened before I moved here I wouldn't have moved here. The walls are not as insukated as they could be either. Prepare for ants and centipedes too. Many tenants have complained of bedbugs, which they did NOT bring with them.. Islander has had a bed bug problem for quite awhile now but they wont tell you that, they will try and charge you for the problem as though YOU brought them.
So far I have been lucky, fingers crossed. But many others have not been so lucky. The wifi is horrible, the indoor pool filthy. Rent somewhere else. Dont get stuck here like me and many others. the draining of the lake with live fish in it sealed the deal. This place sucks. OH and parking' FORGET IT. Be here by 5 or pack a lunch.
And dont ever be late on rent. ever. When you sign your lease they get you with what is called a "rent discount" it's about 60 bucks.. but it's a crock.. its simply how they get you with late fees. So if you are late, you lose your rent discount, 60 bucks, then you get a 10% late fee and pet fee. SO when you are late by even 1 day, YES 1 DAY, you are charged nearly $150 for late fees. IF you dont pay them, but pay rent on time the next month' Doesn't matter, you now have TWO MONTHS LATE FEES, almost $300 in late fees.. again, this place is not worth it. Emergencies happen, it happened once, I had 300 in fees. Ask them at leasing office how it goes, they'll tell you.

Seriously? They dredged the lake because it had filled up with hundreds of tons of sediment over the years and looked horrible. The have now completed the excavation and are about to start on the landscaping soon. It already looks much better then before and it hasn't even filled up yet! No rain is to blame for that... So why don't you go back to your PETA meetings and let the people who know whats going on get something productive done!

yeah candyass, seriously. peta meetings? ROTFLMAO.. I hunt and fish and peta as a group disgusts me, but what disgusts me even more is what Islander did. You dont leave tons of fish to die and rot in the sun, period.
As for the lake looking better? I drive by it everyday, it still looks like ----.
