I heard awful things about the old management, but it might be better than this new group.
I was serious enough about moving in that I wrote the $25 application fee check, which I understood was non-refundable - pretty standard stuff. My mistake was also paying them a separate $300 to "hold" my apartment until I decided what length of lease I wanted. I did NOT sign a lease and was assured this money was refundable if I decided not to sign up.
About 2 weeks later I decided not to move and called to inform them AND ask for my $300. The girl said OK and that she needed to check if they would simply refund my credit card or send a check. After 2 weeks of not hearing anything I called back. Now they claimed that the money was only refundable if I didn't pass their credit check (which I did). THIS WAS A LIE! This $300 "security deposit" as they now are terming it, was not going to be repaid to me.
I've called numerous times, spoken to the the leasing manager - who then doesn't call back. I've threaten legal action - they don't call back.
If this is how they treat people over a lousy $300.....I'd think twice about living there!
(and yes, I'm filing suit)

Usually, if you are "approved" within the legal terms of the original contract and YOU decide not to move forward, some companies will use those monies as "LIQUIDATED DAMAGES"... I know at this point in the game that's the LAST thing you wanna hear, but that's what they do. Don't know the entire story of what this particular company does or what TERMS they use, but I do wish you luck cause no one has any amount of money to GIVE AWAY... especially $300!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!
