...is just that: cheap. I spent 5 years at Walnut Hill and found management to be very difficult to deal with. In the last 18 months of my tenancy, the entire complex appeared to go downhill.

Pros:
Free heat, water and sewer; location; cost.

Cons:
Parking is less than adequate; trash facilities are horrible; complex is noisy; apartment common areas are dirty; appliances are very dated; fixtures are old and in some cases in disrepair; residents are not courteous to others; the appearance of the complex leaves much to be desired; management is unprofessional; lease is overly restrictive; maintenance is unskilled.

All in all, if you can afford to look elsewhere, you will do yourself a favor by passing this complex up. If you cannot afford to look elsewhere, this may be the place for you. If you must, try your best to get an apartment in the very back building that overlooks the woods. The additional quiet that you get will be well worth the premium that management will charge you.
