In Defense of Midtown Towers and it's Staff

I have been a resident at Midtown Towers for three and a half months now and I would like to write a review in defense of the facility and it's staff.

My fiance and I moved back to Cleveland after spending a year in Florida and the leasing consultant we worked with (Wendy Arndt) was extremely helpful to us in our transition.

She responded immediately to me via email or phone on many occasions as we made our move back.
Lorrie Mustard (Property Manager) has also been very responsive and helpful regarding any of our requests or (few) problems.
I have been reading complaints about this facility that I would like to address.
First, the pool was open a bit late and then closed for a week to take care of repairs that needed to be done...

NOT by fault of management...

but by fault of residents.

Glass bottles were thrown into the pool so it had to be drained and refinished FOR OUR SAFETY.

Management was simply doing all that they could to ensure that our pool was safe and back up and running as quickly as possible.
Second, the balconies are being re-done for our safety and for our enjoyment as well.

The end date of when our balcony was to be completed ran over a bit, but Lorrie immediately had answers for me when contacted about the problem.

The railing needed to be replaced, hence the longer end date.

Again...

not management's fault and they responded to me immediately.
Third, as for the hallways having an odor...

every apartment complex in the world has some sort of odor.

You cannot possibly expect to have so many tenants living in the same place, cooking food, spraying deodorizers, utilizing cleaning products, etc.

etc.

and not expect to have some type of odor after a prolonged period of time.

Midtown is currently updating all of their paint and carpet in all of the buildings so we can enjoy a "fresher" and cleaner environment.

Again...

management doing all that they can to update and improve our living situation.
Fourth, as for people occassionally arguing and playing loud music...

give me a break! You live in a HUGE apartment complex! What do you expect' You will see people arguing and playing loud music on every street corner in Cleveland/Parma! It's called life.

Fifth, we have an AC unit in our living room and our bedroom and they both work VERY efficiently...

even on 90 degree days.

Sixth, the fitness center was closed for one week in order to move it to building #2.

Not to abolish a fitness center all together'!'! They had signs up in the elevators and on the old gym door, apologizing for the small inconvenience of not having a gym for a week, but this was done in order to make a bigger and better gym for us in building #2.

Why is that a crime'' AGAIN...

management doing what they can to make our living place BETTER.
Seventh and lastly, a two bedroom apartment at Midtown, with a balcony, is in the range of $600/month including heat and water.

Try to find that price and the largeness of this kind of unit anywhere else and I can guarantee you that you will fall short.

Apartment living is what it is.

Nothing is perfect and there is no way to make everyone satisfied in every single aspect.

But I would just like to defend Midtown and it's staff to anyone seeking a decent place to live in Parma.

The staff has always been very helpful to me, my apartment has brand new paint and carpet and is larger than anything I have ever seen for this price, we DO have a pool, we DO have a fitness center, we are very conveniently located to several freeways and downtown, there is ample shopping and restaurants in the area, and all of the neighbors I have met have been very friendly.

I received that letter as well and thought I would check this out. You can't address the staff because they don't do anything for you. I thought I was the only one feeling like this. I was told the exterminator would come to my apartment three different times. One of the times they even lied and said he came but I was home (surprise!). So, unless it is an absolute emergency I try not to call them I am trying to wait my lease out and then move. I hate the fact that I moved here because it had a pool, a playgroud, and a fitness center. Those were all things I was looking for in an apartment but if I can't depend on the staff to take care of the basics....like trash removal, cleaning the foyer(I have watched them just clean visible dirt areas, sometimes not even that)and timely service then, I will give up the amenties that I like. I can say, that they finally cracked down on the problems at the pool and are requiring everyone to show passes (finally), after problems with unruly children running all over. The courtesy officer does make his presence know at night. When some residents were out of control the other night the police did show up, so that is good. I believe that when management says they are going to do something get it done and you will then be respected. However, if things keep not getting done on your watch even though it is not your fault, it is those that are under you, that looks bad on you. Therefore, falls on your shoulders, so maybe that is why Lorrie's name may get brought up more often than not. However, it may not be Lorrie's fault but those who are not carrying through need to be handled appropriately. I hope things change not real big changes, just a better follow through.

Whoever anonymous is from 7/29/07... not to be mean, but you ARE an idiot because I AM a tenant. I live in building #2. I just wanted to voice my opinion about management and Midtown. It's not nearly as bad as some people seem to think and they really need to chill out and get a hobby. I have lived in and out of apartments for years and trust me... there is a lot worse and there is management that is a thousand times worse. It's called LIFE.

I totaly agree with this person, i stayed there for 5 years, and after i moved out they sent me a final account bill for $5,900.00 dollar bill. NOTE: they gave me discount for bad carpet, but interestingly in the final account bill they added like almost $1000 to replace the carpet, i stayed there for 5 years, and they never bother to replace it even i keep extending my contract. One more thing when i was renewing my contract for the last year that is 5th they said will replace the carpet (see this is just conversation not in written) and i thought they will do it so i signed the contract but right after i signed the contract i got the letter stating that they will not replace it due to management change and the person who is agreed to replce the carpet is no longer in the management, SO TELL me is that my problem? whey do i have to pay like $1000 for carpet... JEEZ its a nightmare after moving out from MIDTOWN, they will hang your life in between sky and earth...... DO NOT STAY HERE This is ALL BS, NEVER EVER Stay in MIDTOWN until you have everything written, NEVER EVER trust STAFF when you speak, they will get you hell of a trouble, even they drag you to court, be careful.

Kimmiegiggles says "not to be mean, but you ARE an idiot" Obviously another person that you don't want to deal with if you are looking for an apartment do you really want neighbors like this one? I have lived in many apartments in my life too, in cities much bigger than Parma and I have never dealt with worse management. I for one, truly believe that the good things being written are written by management. When I talk to people in the laundry room or the elevators no one ever has anything but a complaint, yet somehow, management has found a few people to write nice things. I just don't believe it. If you do decide to live here ...GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING!

Well, I have been reading ALL of these comments because I am thinking about moving BACK to Midtown Towers after I lived there a few years back for about 6 months. From living here, I knew there were a LOT of ignorant people living in some of the apartments, and it seems that many of these people are leaving really unreliable comments. For example: Anonymous from 8/8/07 is saying that "Kimmiegiggles" is a mean neighbor when she only called that guy an idiot because he HIMSELF said "what does management think I'm an idiot" lol I'm getting lots of commedy out of these ridiculous comments you people leave. There are some concerns though, bugs, trash, and water. If it's a big problem, move out, or make sure they sign a contract (WRITTEN) before you move in. Problem solved. Thank you, everyone, for letting me know the problems that are at the complex, as well as the benefits. I do have a few questions though.. 1)How is the bug problem now? Has anyone spotted roaches, etc? 2)Why did someone say the gyms were unsafe for women? 3)Can someone give me an example of why "lorrie" has yelled at them and cursed and been rude? What you asked her, how you acted towards her, and why she was so upset? I am not trying to side with anyone, I just want the facts straight from the bullsh*t. Thank you, everyone!

Anonymous from 05/09/2008, I am a current resident in building 2 as well. I just want to say, that there are cameras everywhere! In hallways, in the gym, and in the elevators! I have not had as many bad problems as people are saying. Kimmiegiggles is right when she says that most of the things that happen is due to irresponsible tenants who allow their kids to do what they want and not take responsibility for them. Also, when you do a walk through before moving in to the apartment you are to notate with the leasing agent everything you can possibly find that is wrong with the apartment, therefore you have documentation when you move out that the damage was not caused by you but by a previous resident or staff. There is no reason why a person who decides to move into an apartment does not go over the apartment and make sure that the staff knows what is wrong. That is your responsibility. So anyone who reads this, just have the common sense to check the place out and document any and all things that you feel you may be charged for that you did not cause. All apartments have their issues, you are not going to find one that has PERFECT everything. Just be happy that you are able to afford an apartment and a roof over your head and stop complaining about dumb petty stuff.
