QUESTIONS FOR TENANTS!/MANAGEMENT

Well, I have been reading ALL of these comments because I am thinking about moving BACK to Midtown Towers after I lived there a few years back for about 6 months. From living here, I knew there were a LOT of ignorant people living in some of the apartments, and it seems that many of these people are leaving really unreliable comments. For example: Anonymous from 8/8/07 is saying that "Kimmiegiggles" is a mean neighbor when she only called that guy an idiot because he HIMSELF said "what does management think I'm an idiot" lol I'm getting lots of commedy out of these ridiculous comments you people leave. There are some concerns though, bugs, trash, and water. If it's a big problem, move out, or make sure they sign a contract (WRITTEN) before you move in. Problem solved. Thank you, everyone, for letting me know the problems that are at the complex, as well as the benefits. I do have a few questions though..
1)How is the bug problem now' Has anyone spotted roaches, etc'
2)Why did someone say the gyms were unsafe for women'
3)Can someone give me an example of why "lorrie" has yelled at them and cursed and been rude' What you asked her, how you acted towards her, and why she was so upset'
I am not trying to side with anyone, I just want the facts straight from the bullsh*t. Thank you, everyone!

In terms of bugs, I have never had any in my apartment, however being on the fifth floor might mean less of an occurrence of bugs. I don't really know how to answer the rest of your questions though. The trash chute has been operational for all of one day, when they had to repaint the room. Water is occasionally shut off for whatever reason, but I can only recall one time in the past year where it was a problem (They shut it off a 2nd time long after posted hours while I was doing laundry). I have never heard the staff yelling at anyone, and I can only think of one instance where a staff member (don't even remember which one) was lazy and unhelpful. Every time I have a problem I just talk to Monica, she doesn't give you any BS and is extremely helpful.

You may also want to consider an additional cost of renters insurance. Midtown is forcing all the tenants to buy renters insurance now. Why they are making it mandatory? They not only increase the rents every year like crazy but now additional cost of insurance? wtf??
The Gym might be unsafe for women since it has been moved to an isolated area (on the back side of building 2 where there is very poor lighting outside the backside of the bldg). The air-conditioning in the gym was ineffective during the last summer/fall. I doubt that they have fixed it so far.

Yes,it is true about the renter's insurance but most people have that anyway just to protect themselves. I can understand Midtown not wanting to be responsible for the liability. The entrance to the gym is dark and is not really safe from my perspective(I am a woman). I usually drive over there if I go when it is not daylight. They have been good about having the exterminator come in every three months. Well, things look alot better around the premises however that means rent increases. Some people are going to renew their lease and either having the choice of a smaller apt with a rent increase still or staying in the same one with a huge rent increase. I am scared when my lease comes due, which is soon for me.I got a good deal coming in and can't afford a big rent increase, I have been a model tenant. I don't think that is fair. I have put up with all the changes, good and bad. Things are looking up now but I was there when things were not so great and now I will have to pay a huge rent increase or get out! Well, I guess that is what happens when the place becomes a decent place to live w/o roaches(finally),mice(finally),and a few other problems fixed, notice I say not all. But.... every apartment complex will always have problems I have come to learn.

Renters insurance is less than $20 a month. Why would you not want to get it and protect your property? That's a dumb move on anyone's part to not get it. Yes, the air is fixed in the gym. I go there three days a week and not once has it not been on. I'm very happy where I'm at and I have heard nothing about the rent increasing. Obviously they can only do that when you re-new but if you aren't happy paying it then I see no reason why you should suffer, just find somewhere else. We are lucky that they supply air conditioners. I had a friend who didn't even get an air conditioner in his apartment. I think you will be happy here if you decide to move back.

Renter's Insurance- my lease came up for renewal, and i asked that the increase be offset by deducting the cost of renters insurance, they happily offered to look into it.
Bugs - I am in building # 1, floor 3. No bugs, quiet.
gym - it had its issue when it was still under construction - better now
lighting - in general, the lighting inthe parking lots isnt great in the back of the building esp where the gym is.
cameras - several security cameras are install everywhere - so that makes me feel safer
elevators - they are not so great, but they are actually in the start up phase to replace them.
Leasing office - i reccomend daling with wendy in leasing. she is very nice and gets things done!

1)It is usually fine, until Terminex comes. After they come, I see a lot of bugs. Lately I have had fruit flies flying out from my disposal (I never have any food left out or use the disposal, so I know it's from inside the pipes). Of course the usual spiders and flies, can't complain about that. But I have seen some centipede-like creatures in the hallways at least once a week. Lately in my bathroom I have seen an ant crawling up the wall two every day. I can hear rat/mice/whatever inside the walls. But I have only seen a cockroach like a dozen times. Not like a million of them. Just here and there.
2)Not sure about this. They don't have much in there. Just like 2 bicycles, one weight station, 4 tredmills, and two tread climber things.
3)Lorrie has been EXTREMELY rude to me. I called about asking why they said they can never increase our rent, but then I got a flyer in my door last month saying they are increasing it by $3. And her assistant hung up on me in the middle of a sentence. When I finally contacted Lorrie, (I never even knew she existed) she claimed that I lost connection on my cell phone. After I told her I was on a landline (phone records to prove it) she said that I hung up on her. I said, why would I hang up on her in the middle of a sentence? Then she went back to the thing about losing signal. We spoke and she continued to call me a liar, on things that were clearly true. But continued to deny them and say I was lying. She makes promises she does not keep. She claims she trained the staff herself to be better. But her staff does illegal things and are unethical and lie. When we talked about my stuff that was wrong with the apartment before I moved in, she simply stated that I was lying. Even though I had physical prood. She then said that I did not contact Midtown once about the problems. I have on my phone records I have called at least twice a month since I moved in. Not counting times I went in the office to get a package, and not counting using my work phone while I was on break. Every time I called Wendy would say "Oh, the last person didn't put it in, I will put it in now." And I got that same response every time, from the same person. Lorrie said that I never called. Then after she stopped calling me a liar for that, she said that Wendy lost a son a few years back and she also had cancer a few years back. Sorry, but that is no excuse. Everyone loses family members. I have my fair share of medical problems. I don't let it interfere with my work to the point where I never get any of my work done.
So then after this meeting Lorrie asked me to make a specific list of places the painter needs to go over. So I make the list, and call her the next day and she starts rattling off about how I am not being cooperative and blah, blah blah. So I don't want to interrupt her and be rude, but I kinda had to. And when she finally took a breath for a second I started saying "Well you asked me to make you this list" and she cut me off and said "I am not dealing with this anymore. This conversation is over." And hung up. Ever since then, I have called maybe 6 times, and I have emailed maybe 5 times. She has not gotten back to me. It seems like she is screening my calls, because they ask who is calling, I say my name, they put me on hold, then tell me she isn't in the office.
The entire staff has treated me horrible. Anyone who even has met me for a second knows that I'm TOO nice sometimes and too accepting and understanding. I never raise my voice or yell and be unreasonable.
For some reason I got a call today saying that Terminex will be in my apartment Friday (since the staff has been in my apartment without permission 5 times and put holes in the wall they will later charge me for). I told her I already will have someone there and worked it out with Midtown. And Wendy goes "Thank you for finally cooperating." And my jaw just dropped, because I have been trying to be cooperative, but they are treated me horribly and ignoring me. So I just said "Thank you for calling and letting me know, I appreciate it. Have a nice day." Which that is not what I felt, but I said it because I am a nice person and do not wish to cause conflict when it is not necessary.
There are MULTIPLE more expamples, but that is the big stuff that happened recently. In my opinion and experience- The entire staff, Lorrie, Monica, and Wendy especially- are very rude, unethical, lying people. They have scammed me, lied to me, violated the law on multiple occassions, and screamed at me for no reason. They are not cooperative and are not easy to deal with.
I would reccommend NOBODY to ever move in there. My experience, on a level of 1-10, 1 being the worst, has been in the negative numbers.
