The overall apartment is nice, located close to many things and the highway which is Convenient, but that is close to where the good things end. The internet/cable is simply the worst I have ever seen before or heard of anyone having. The cable that is offered is only a slightly more then basic package. There is not the option of having any cable box or anything in HD. There's no guide button to easily navigate the channels, and you are missing channels you are used to from cable, such as FX. The complex refuses to allow you to have any sort of satellite dish despite reassurance from DirectTV no damage would be done to the property, and they can watch them install the dish to be sure. The cost of this severely sub par package is still 47.50 a month (its a shame I m such a big ------- fan, never regretted it so much before). Management also claimed they were going to have Time Warner cable come in during the summer but that never happened and I suspect never will. The cable is just horrible to sum it all up.

The internet is also just horrible. Again there is only one option available unless you decide to go back to the mid 90s and go with dial up (may not be a bad option here). The company (MyESuite) is just a total joke and the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with and they will receive thier own complaint at the BB. I call to set up the service, they are out of modems and I am put on a waiting list of nearly a month just to have to wait longer because they don t have a technician available. On top of this they hit me with this outrageous $40 dollar installation fee when all the guy did was plug a cable into the wall and the modem into the outlet. Management does not care and will not allow another company to come in most likely because they are receiving a big cut for this monopoly for both the cable and internet. While I know Shady Lake does not provide the service, they should find better providers with all the complaints even if it means they do not profit as much.

On top of this the walls are thin and we can often hear other people and already someone complained to us once we are loud when we are not silent people but not loud, just living. The rent is slightly high but just be prepared for horrible utilities if you move in here. In addition there is only once small facility for laundry with 2 washers and dryers available and I use the word dryers loosely because do not expect anything to be remotely dry. I will be leaving as soon as I possible can.

In regards to DirectTV, you can get it through the office, we have it, the box, everything. You simply need to go to the office to sign up, our guy came out and installed it the very next day. I do agree on the Myesuite though, it is a pain and the only option. You can get Verizon Broadband, but its 59.95 a month. So you are stuck with the monopoly. It SUCKS. Also, they have washer dryer hookups for your own washer and dryer, which is probably why the laundry room is so small. But, I am sure not everyone can afford one.

In a little over a month the very slow speed internet has already failed 3 times. This most recent one cut out Saturday afternoon and because they do not have anyone there after that time I could not call in until Monday. Apparrently they can not get to it until Thursday to maybe fix it. What service! These current situations are not American (free enterprise, best guy gets the job). Avoid Shady Lake appartments and MyESuite at all costs.

Two comments on the first comment from 9/25/07 -- the DirecTV is NOT in HD so forget about HD here. Secondly the broadband is WIRELESS so your first hop is at least a couple hundred ping - forget gaming efficiently, or staying connected for more than 15 minutes at a time. We had 25% packet loss recently, and that's just about par for every day for the last year.
