I am a current resident and Shady Lake. The Apartments are spacious and clean. Recently they added Time Warner Cable and Internet.

However the bad outweighs the good. I was unfortunate enough to be directly under 3 20 something kids with a lot of issues. 3 times in the past 6 months we have had maintenance over to fix water leaks they caused. You have to expect some noise due to the proximity of our apartments and the occasional party is fine however it sounds like they beat the crap out of each other all the time, wrestle around bang doors and slam cabinets. This happens at all hours of the night and day.

I'm finding out this is the norm as I live their longer. I would avoid these apartments but also do what I didn't do. Ask about section 8 housing, avoid these apartments.

The problem isn't just our neighbors it's the constant blow off by the management and maintenance staff over the repairs to our apartment. In addition to this the management staff has more than enough reasons to kick them out but they won't because it appears rentals are down.

In addition to the neighbors and their problems I've counted police on the lots a number of times for disturbances, loud parties, fights and the like. Watch where you walk. Since there are no posted speed limit signs I've clocked people driving through the parking lots at 50 miles an hour. My wife has almost been run over twice.

I've lived in a few apartments since leaving home, Shady Lake rates towards the bottom. If your lucky enough to get in a building with nice people and quite neighbors then I would stay here. The problem is it's a gamble and your odds don't seem to be too good.
