Ok, first off, I am convinced that the only people (minus a few exceptions) that write these reviews are people that have something to complain about. That is why I would like to take the time to write a fair review of the Polo Club Apartments.
I have lived here for exactly a year and half. The only reason I am leaving is because of a new job out of town. I am actually a little disappointed that I can not find a place as nice as the Polo Club in Columbus, OH. When I first moved to Cleveland, the Polo Club was the best bang for the buck in my mind. Although rent has raised since then, I still can not complain about the price. While the Polo Club was a steal when I moved in, it is still below the average apartment price in similar areas. The apartments themselves are nice sized. They come equipped with a fridge, dishwasher, microwave, oven, and a washer and dryer. My only complaint here is that the washer and dryer are stacked and somewhat small and the microwave fan above the stove sometimes turns on by itself (maybe 4 times over a year and a half). These issues are not the fault of management, but more the fault of some appliance manufacturer. On that note, maintenance has always been quick and efficient in addressing any concerns that I have.
I love my private patio with a good sized storage closet off to the side. I have two sliding doors that lead to the patio - one off the bedroom and one off the living room. Mail is delivered to each building so there is no need to stop at a central mail kiosk on your way in. There are plenty of garages for rent (35 a month when I moved in) and there is plenty of parking for guests. The garages are older and a bit dingy, but you are parking your car there, not sleeping there. The grounds are well kept and full of mature tress. There are a couple of nice ponds with a water fall and a large deck near the pool area. I chose the place because it feels like you are out away from everything. You would never guess that you were located smack dab between I-71 and Southpark Mall. People complain about the geese, but I think they add to the nature feel. There is very little dog/geese poop on the property and everything is well maintained. The dumpster sometimes gets backed up, but I have never seen trash sit for more than half of a day. Snow removal is adequate, though not as good as it was last year. In my first winter here, you could hear the maintenence staff out at 5:30 in the morning on their ATV's clearing the snow. This year they seemed to be sleeping in a bit later, but the roads in the apartment complex were still cleaner than the roads in downtown Cleveland.
I love Strongsville. Although not as convenient to downtown, it is cheaper (and nicer in my opinion) than Westlake. There is a great Recreation center (one of the top ten in the country when it was new) and it is relatively cheap (250 a year for residents). There is a 3 mile section of the Cleveland Metro Park that runs right through the city and it is very safe. There is plenty of shopping in the area with Southpark Mall right across the street. This is one of the nicest malls in Cleveland. I-71 runs right through the city and the turnpike is just one exit up. Traffic is congested almost everyday and unbearable during the Christmas season, but you find your way around it. There are also plenty of places to eat (fast food and sit down).
To address some of the complaints posted in other reviews:
-Spiders near the pool above the grill area: Show me an outside deck near a pool that doesn't have a spider somewhere around it' I have never noticed this issue.
-No one gets their deposit back: READ YOUR LEASE!!! My goodness. I am amazed by what some people agree to without completely understanding what they argreeing to. If people would have read their leases before signing them, they would have read the part about the $150 office administration fee upon move out. $150 deposit minus $150 office fee equals $0. Crappy' Yes, I agree. But it is spelled out right in your lease. Don't sign if you don't like it.
-Office staff is rude: Treat others the way you want to be treated. If you come in upset and angry and yelling, then of course they are going to be on the defensive. Better illustration - if you punch me in the face, be prepared to get punched back. Just be curtious and other people will be the same.
-I can hear my neighbor through the walls, floor, etc: It is an apartment, not a house. I'll bet you can hear the people next to you in a hotel too huh' Duh.
- Gas bill consistantly over $200 dollars a month: I am not sure what this person does in the winter, but I am guessing they sit around in shorts and a tank top, have the heat up to 85 degrees, running constantly, and run hot water all day long. The most my gas has ever run was $75, one tmie. Average was 50 in the winter and a whopping $10 in the summer for hot water!! Granted, I am in a one bedroom, but still, if your gas is running over $100 a month, then either you, or the equipment is doing something wrong!:)
When it comes right down to it, the Polo Club is an apartment complex. It is one of the nicest in the area and I would recommend it to anyone. If you are looking for complete peace and quiet and high quality construction, then build a house. If you are looking for a great place to live and meet people at an affordable price, then the Polo Club is the place for you. Hopefully this counters some of the negative reviews. Happy hunting! bYr9ljUwtCbMRXE8dRDC

Clearly this response was written by a staff member of the complex. This place sucks. Maybe, just maybe, they got in a newly refinished place, but i doubt it. Or, this is their first time renting. I have rented many many places as I get moved around a lot for work. Polo club was by far and away my worst renting experience I have ever had and I am not shy about telling people. I value internet reviews and use them to my benefit when making decisions. I post both good and bad reviews based on the merit of the service or product. I would not think it is a coincidence that so many people think negatively of this place. I find it strange that this person is the first person to sing its praises and is surprised by people's reactions. I agree here that the location is awesome and the city of Strongsville is a great place to live. Both are very true. But how long can the Polo Club continue to leverage a great town and location in order to sacrifice quality? That is the question. The truth is, we live in a capitalistic society where competition dictates value. With so many other choices out there for renting, they need to get their act together in order to keep people around.

My wife and now new baby have been at the polo club for 5 years now. We've enjoyed the Polo Club and have zero complaints. Noise? Well some apartments may hear I-71 more than others.. Just don't rent with a door facing I-71. My apartments is one building away from I-71 and I don't hear any road noise inside my apartment. Great for singles. I see them everywhere. Great for families. I see them everywhere.. Especially kids under 4 yrs old and around 10 yrs old. They play by the tennis courts in the grassy area. Soccer, baseball... it's a nice place to hangout in a park like setting without going to the park. Tanning? Oh they have an awesome tanning bed now for free. We love it here and think you will too. Hope to see you around the Club.

Haha, I can assure you that I have never worked for the Polo Club. I am a Structural/Graphic Designer for a packaging company in Cleveland - now COlumbus I guess. I find it funny that you are so shocked by my opinions of the Polo Clup. This apartment is recommended by 54% of the reviewers. That is far superior to MANY of the apartments on this site. It is a shame that a positive review is met with the response "Clearly this response was written by a staff member of the complex." For all I know, you work the competing apartment down the street. Maybe I did get lucky with a great experience, but 3 of my closest neighbors have lived there as long, if not longer than I have. Why stay if it is such a terrible place?? I assure you, the Polo Club is a great place to live.

Look you may have had a good experience but the truth is that my wife adn I have lived her for 2 years and when we had gas bills aroung $150 we told to office something was wrong and the NEW head manager told us to hire a contractor because they don't fix heating problems. THEN WHY DO WE PAY RENT????????????
