Decent Place to live

I was looking at a bunch of places in Akron after getting my 1st real job out of college, and after about a month of looking saw this place, thought it was decent enough and when they made you pay a (refundable only if you got the place) $50 for application, I didn't want to loose the money and was sick of looking so took it. I was able to have 6-month lease and then switch to month-to-month for an extra $50/mo or so.

This was a decent place - very quiet and the two managers/lease agents were nice, and were understanding if you were late a couple days on rent. Janitor/super was not there when you needed him, but eventually got the job done. They had events a couple times a year with free food/potluck or yard sales to make a community feel, but most of the people who came were senior citizens, who are probably some of the best (i.e. quitest) neighbors you could have, but are not the people I could make friends with.

While I was there they repaved the whole parking lot - which is nice now, but was a pain then (but it was funny to see expensive cars with tar all over them who clearly went around the "Do not cross - wet pavement" signs blocking 1 of 2 entrances). Decent layout except cooking area and counter tops are small, and I do not like all white walls and bland carpeting in every room - but maybe you do. Pool and tennis court were nice to have - but I never used them.

My only concern is the utility pricing scheme. They divided the heat, water, sewer, and trash pickup evenly among the whole complex. I was a single person living in a two bedroom, was hardly ever there, kept the light low, and didn't mind it too cool or hot - so I got screwed, while families with kids, people who stayed home all the time, or people really finicky about temperature got a great deal. I still paid between $50-$75 every month which I figured I contributed maybe $10 - so the total was $700-$725 (includes my 6-month extra price and not including electric, TV, internet), and there were cheaper places if I kept looking that included utilities.

Still was quiet and decent place, so worth it if you think that's worth the extra $, but I don't mind as my next place I lived was Timber Top (look it up w/ my reviews and comments).
