Don't move here

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008
My fiance and I were set to move here in July of 2008. When we first went to look at the apartments the staff was friendly, but kind of pushy, and the grounds were pretty. We really liked the town house and LOVED that they gave us a discount for being college students. We had given a deposit for a two bedroom townhouse, and they said it would take about a week to find out if we were accepted. After about 5 days I called down there and they told us that my fiances place of employment had not responded to their call so they couldn't do a credit check yet. Why they couldn't have called 3 days earlier to tell us that I have no idea. Then when we told them that his employer could not respond by fax they had to call a certain number they wouldn't do it. They told us we had to have a most recent check stub and one from 6 months ago! How he held on to one for that long still amazes me. We dropped off the check stubs and another 3-4 days went by... no phone call. So I called again to see if we had been accepted. They tried to say that my employer had not responded to them. My employer is a family member and I was there when she sent the fax so I knew that was a lie. So after sending my information AGAIN they tried to say they didn't have my fiances stuff either. THEY LOST THE COPIES OF THE CHECK STUBS! So we had to go back out there so they could copy them AGAIN! After about a day I called them and they told me that we were accepted but had to pay last months rent in advance. So now we had to pay first months rent and last months rent which came to 1000 some dollars. After thinking about it my fiance and I have decided to buy a house instead. I called them to say we weren't going to be moving in and if we could have our security deposit back. They said no problem, but you have to come down to get it. We drive down there and then they proceed to tell us that we can't have our deposit back because it wasn't within the 72 hours of us being accepted. Like I would have even known we were accepted...they would never call! So in short if you want to move here be prepared for them to lose your stuff, you never talk to the same person, and NEVER expect a call back.
