My husband and I recently found out that our former landlord (Ardent Property Management) sent collection letters to my employer and family members about a damages charge for our apartment after we moved out...After moving out on July 31, we never received our security deposit or any bill, so this was the first time hearing of this. After requesting an itemized bill over the phone AND via fax and certified mail, the company has refused to give us a bill several times and threatened us with ruining our credit. My husband and I both received phone calls telling us to not contact them again unless it is through our lawyer, and then were hung up on. We have made it extremely clear that we will pay, we just would like an itemized bill, but he refuses and says he already turned me in to the credit agencies. We call the Polaris Crossings office and they just direct us to the Collections department....I happened to look online and I have found other former tenants who have been experiencing the same thing! We just want a bill showing not only what our deposit was used for, but also what damages require these extra charges ($377), which we LEGALLY have a right to!
