Don't Do It!!!

This place is nothing like it seems from the street and the model! Luckily, I found this website before I moved in. After reading the reviews here, I checked out the place I was supposed to move into. It was in terrible condition! The folks before me must have had at least one large dog, because the place smelled horrible and there were big clumps of dog hair everywhere. When I asked if they were going to replace the carpet before I moved in, they just shrugged it off and said they would have a cleaner come in. Now, this was about a week before I was supposed to move in, so I was pretty sure they had no intention of replacing it, even though it was badly stained and torn in some places. There were holes in the walls and tiles missing from the floor in the bathrooms. The refrigerator was so old it was literally turning a brownish color, and the stove was missing completely. There were piles of trash/furniture in the garage that had been there for who knows how long, and it smelled horrific. The front door frame was busted up. There were pieces of it laying on the living room floor, and I won't even go into what the toilets looked/smelled like! When I voiced my concerns over the condition of the place and the amount of time left before the move-in date, they simply told me 'We'll get it cleaned up'. When I mentioned the reviews the place has gotten, they again told me 'It'll be cleaned up'. Needless to say, I didn't believe it, so I asked if I could do a walk through before signing the lease. They told me no until I pressed the issue, and then they told me I could walk through the day before I was supposed to move in. I told them that this wouldn't leave me any time for them to fix any problems that might be found if the place wasn't in an acceptable condition by move-in date, since I had to be out of my current place the day after. Again, they told me 'It'll be clean'. A few days later I went to check on the progress again. It hadn't been touched! This made it clear that there was no way the place was going to be ready by my move-in date. I decided at that point that I had better form a backup plan. Luckily, I found a much better place (Stratford) that has the same floorplan and could squeeze me in under the deadline. When I told Polaris Pointe that I had decided to go someplace else, the manager got real snotty with me and told me she was keeping my deposit, even though there was no way they could have rented that place to anyone else. So, a word to the wise: Take these reviews as the truth, cuz that's what they are. If you really decide you still want to move in here, make sure you see your actual unit before you apply or sign anything, because they will keep your deposit if you change your mind, regardless of whether they actually provided any services to you or not. If this is how they treat a potential resident, I would hate to see how they treat the folks who live there!
