I am currently in my second year living there, and up until recently I will admit that I was very happy. The fitness center is wonderful, and there are lots of activities available to anyone. It wasn't until the leasing office learned that I may not be staying did things start to go down hill.
My current roomate is expecting and planning to move back to her parents. Well, without a roomate I can't afford the apartmant I have now. I went to the leasing office to look into the possibility of moving to a 1 bedroom. The moment the woman found out there was a possibility I was not going to resign my current lease, she for the most part stopped being helpfull. She even went as far as to encourage me to look elsewhere, giving the impression that if I wasn't jumping up and down happy with them, then they don't want or need my rent check.
Maintenance is horrible. Has been since the day I moved in. It wasn't until I threatned to not sign for my 2nd year lease did they start to come and repair the problems that were addressed.
I live in H building (2260), and the hall ways in the building smell. The first floor hall always smells like a septic tank has backed up, while the 2nd floor (where I live) always smells like garlic or some sort of greasy food. Complaints have been made about this, with no action taken to correct the problems.
Other residents - I have made some very good friends in my building. We became as such, by having a mutual hate for the complex. The people who live below me like to shoot at the birds and what not that come out of the woods. In the summer/spring all I hear all day long are their bb-guns going off. Again, I have made complaints up and down about this, and it still continues. Not to mention their desire to blast music at 2am.
Security and Safety. There is security on site after 9pm. They are very responsive if there are any major issues like domestic abuse and the like. What they lack in, is the actual function of their job. When I moved in I was told that if a guest came after the gates went down, then they would be stopped by security, and security would call the apartment to get clearance for the guest to enter. I have NEVER had security call me for guest clearance. Never.
Over all I did at one point enjoy living there, but the closer it gets to my lease being up, the happier I am to be moving out. The leasing staff seems to change weekly, and they don't know anything except how to lie and lure you into renting from them. The place has it's perks... but the bad does outweigh the good and if you can find a better place to rent - stay away from Pine Ridge.
