I moved into my apartment here in May 2008. It is now two months later and I have been trying to terminate my lease based on a breach in contract by the owners of the apartment. I have had stuff including but not limited to; fridge door not closing properly, front door will not shut or lock properly, received a key that did not work in my front door, mailbox would not shut so i was missing mail, sunflower seeds on my carpet when i moved in, wax on the carpet floor,drain to my bathtub did not stop water from draining, i have also had a horrible smell coming from the apartment next door in my apartment...which was apparently because there was food left in the freezer with no electricity. nothing was cleaned before i moved in...yet all they could say was, "sorry we rushed through your apartment." half of the repairs had not yet been done, which in the leasing agreement it states in section 18...that the owner has a certain amount of time to come fix any problems with the apartment and if they do not then the lease shall be terminated. this is the point i am at, on top of the fact that the maintenance crew has come into my apartment several times while i was not home and gone through my drawers, pictures and closet, as well as gone to the bathroom with out flushing....disgusting..i know! when i advised the property manager falicia of my will to terminate the lease she told me that i would have to pay 3 months rent. FOR WHAT''' she said that all of the repairs were done. i then advised her that i would be contacting an attorney regarding the matter and that i did not want anyone in my apartment until i do so. the front door was still not working when i advised her i did not want anyone to come into my apartment. when i came home that night...go figure my door was fixed..so it looked like they fixed it a long time ago. haha little did they know...i set up a web cam :) they will now be speaking with my attorney.
I do not recommend moving into this place where they think they can get away with violating your privacy and your rights! falicia has been very rude in the whole matter and was trying to find any loop holes to save her butt. well she didn't do a very good job and hopefully will not be employed here much longer.
If you are having problems with them I recommend contacting an attorney. they have no clue what they are doing and they will try to bully you by breaking the law.
