Poor Management, Property often filthy and in disrepair, Too many unsupervised Children, Security part of the problem!

I moved in here earlier this year. One of the first things that I noticed was that I often had to drive less than five miles an hour and sometimes wait until unsupervised children will stop playing ball or hanging out in the parking lot or just junping in front of my vehicles and waving or laughing because I have to stop and wait for them. Some of these children appear to be only five or six years old, yet they almost always lack any adult supervision. Isn't this illegal'-Apparently not here! They throw their balls at my vehicles and on the dozens of expensive plants on my porch and destroy them. I am told by security that not only can they not stop it, but that I am not allowed to tell these children to stop destroying anything on my balcony or to stop throwing things at my vehicles. You are not allowed to say anything about unsupervised children here because some of them belong to the assistant manager who lives here. There are two trees outside the front of one of the apartment buildings that fell from the wind weeks ago, and they are still lying there. One of the buildings has had a stolen shopping cart from Kohl's sitting out front of one of the apartments for weeks, and apparently it is OK to have stolen property from a store more that 3 miles away sitting on someone's porch in my community. At night there are several dogs running loose on the property. I usually enjoy walking with a relative or friend in the evening, but have given this up since I moved here because of these unsupervised animals whose owners just let them run around, rather than walk them. I was told that I could not own an animal when I moved in, yet many of the residents around me do own animals and they are allowed to run loose on the property at night. The maintenance supervisor is polite and nice, but is limited to what he can fix by management. You are locked out of your furnace closet, so you cannot change the filter. This is a serious health issue with me and causes me to need nebulizer treatments much more often. Even though I have requested that my filter be changed every month, and have offered to buy my own filters, if they would just let me know what kind that my furnace uses, I have been unsuccessful in getting my filter changed more often. My gate key has only worked on one gate since I moved in - the gate farthest away from my apartment. To date, they have not been able to fix it. I grew up in a housing addition less than a mile from here, but this place is worlds away from the community I grew up in. Most residents here are aggressive and rude, they are allowed to leave loose trash out on their porch and they do not take care of their children. The overflowing loose trash that my neighbors leave out on their porches in their open overflowing trash cans, mixed with all of the food trash that their children throw all over the place, makes the grounds often look like a total pig sty in the evenings and on weekends. If the owners and managers had better standards, this could be a really nice community. Unfortunately, the current sad state of affairs reflects the attitude of the current managers and owners of this property. I have worked with relatives and friends for months to fix up my apartment, only to feel like a prisioner in my home who cannot even safely carry groceries in at night, or walk to the 24-hour gym here in the early morning. The 24-hour gym that I can no longer use was one of the reasons that I moved here. I also thought that I would be living among more civilized people. They were not honest about utilities too: although you pay for all of your utilities with the City of Edmond Utilities, including a drainage charge, you are also charged water and sewer charges, in addition to your rent, from Crown Ridge apartments. My charges have averaged more than $22 per month for one person and I am told that it will go up substantially for the summer. My utility costs, with the City of Edmond, for heat and air, hot water, all electric has averaged less than $60 per month, yet my charges for water and sewer is almost 50% of what my utilites are for everything else. This is because Crownridge Apartments decide individually how much each person will pay, so they do not have to divide it evenly among residents. I should not have to pay other residents' water bills, but this seems to be the case. I should have been told that I would get stuck paying more than my share before I moved in. I should have been told of all of the problems here before I moved in, including that I would not be allowed to even have a clean filter on the fan to my furnace and air conditioner at least once a month. Moving here was the biggest, and most expensive mistake of my life. I am so sorry that I came here!
