Everything was great...until we signed the lease. Keep in mind as you read this, we've only been here 2 months.
"Manager" routinely wears t-shirts with holes and stains to work.
Ignored deals made before lease signing ($50 first month's rent). Don't count on any special offer actually affecting you.
Didn't clean before we moved in, we had to do it. There was vomit on the bathroom wall, something greasy and gritty all over the shower, black shoe-sole marks on the walls, and the kitchen...can't describe the filth left for us. Money in the closet (if they cleaned the inch of dust from the shelf, they would have found some Franklin Mint type coins...like the solid silver ones that cost like $20 bucks). They told us all the dirt was due to "dust settling"...dust settling on a vertical plane' I don't think dust settles on walls. Same with kitchen.Dust may have settled, but it had been over the course of several months or years if that was the cause. The housekeeper came to clean it, but just cleaned something that had already been cleaned (by us) and told us that everything else was supposed to be done by someone else.
Didn't paint before we moved in, still haven't. Poorly patched holes in drywall are even more obvious.
The door doesn't stay closed unless you dead-bolt it, and they gave us non-working keys to the regular lock, still not resolved.
Miscalculated pro-rated/partial month payment, blamed us for writing check incorrectly.
Made no record of rent payment, but blamed us (screaming inches away from my wife's face, calling me a liar). Once presented with cancelled check they explained that they can't look at every single check that comes through the office (So how do they know how much they're getting paid' Good question!)
Office staff completely useless - can't even construct good lies (see above).
Complete lack of responsibility/accountability. Nothing is ever the fault of the person you're talking to. They blame their errors on whichever staff member is not present at the time, or you, even when you present evidence of their negligence and/or lies.
Absolutely combative in resolving any issue.
If you're "on the list" for a work order or bug spraying, forget it. It'll never get done.
They never apologize, even when stacks of evidence of their ineptitude lies before them. You'll probably never hear "thank you" either.
Owned by Standard Management in California. If you rent here, add Craig Walsh, (310) 410-2300 to your speed dial. You'll need to call him to complain, and to call Elaine and then all of a sudden the staff's poor (far too weak a word) attitudes change completely.
Make photocopies of every check and paper you give them, wait in office until they add it to your file. Be prepared for even that to not make a difference.
It's a shame, the apartment is great now that we've cleaned it. It's a great size, very quiet, and cost effective. Too bad it's run by the people it's run by. If we could take our unit out and move it to Sheridan Square, it would be perfect.
By the way, if you want to have a pet, your carpet will need to be at least 5 years old...they won't tell you that until after you move in though.

Thank you for this review, my family and I are going to be moving there next year and are looking for appartments! I've been looking at the Sheridan Square too, I think you've just helped us make the decision. 8)
