Best moment was moving out

South Oklahoma City does not have many decent apartment complexes and, since I was moving from out of state on short notice, the choices were even fewer. The Fairways was the best of the few choices.
The problems with management started before I even moved in. I called two weeks before my move-in date to verify my apartment number to give to the movers and the utility/cable companies. The manager told me that she could not guarantee the apartment because someone could want it before me. She recommended that I pay for the entire month to guarantee that apartment. Their management company, she said, didn't like to hold vacant apartments for people. (It was just two weeks!) They prefer that you move in at the beginning of the month, and your lease always ends on the 28th. I could not believe that they would suggest I pay for an apartment prior to moving in.
When I moved in, I really wasn't happy about the quality of the apartment. The painting was really sloppy and the floors were pretty dirty. Overall construction is pretty poor. I could never get my apartment cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The pipes clog pretty easily.
I really didn't like the open feel of the apartment. The living room and kitchen is one big room. The white-on-white is pretty harsh on top of that. The bathroom light fixture had regular light bulbs instead of the globe lights. It looked really ugly. I wish there was more storage space like a linen closet, coat closet, etc. What storage space there was is not well laid out. The layout of the one bedrooms is really weird. Anyone can walk by your windows, regardless of what story it is on.
I never had a problem with parking. However, they should rearrange the garbage bins so you can actually see if a car is coming before you turned.
The grounds are not that attractive. The garbage bins are in the parking lots and look ugly. The grass is usually a shade of brown. They have small trees and some bushes, but nothing really attractive.
Even though the apartment is gated at night, I never felt safe going to my car at night. I have spotted some less that desirable people who loiter around at night. I think everyone in SOKC knows the gate combo.
Management is really unprofessional. I try to avoid them.
I was at the pool and the manager came up to me and asked me if I lived there. I said yes and he proceeded to ask me where I lived and for my name. He had a look on his face like he was trying to recall if I really did live there. Only after I shouted my name across the pool area multiple times did he leave me alone. He really should not have harassed me like that after I told him I lived there. The management and leasing agents will also hang out around the pool during the day. They even invite their friends to come up from the surronding areas. Who is the pool for' The residents or the employees'
They recently took up all the concrete sidewalks. The workers started at 6AM. I didn't appreciate being woken up by people ripping up concrete at 6AM right outside my window. I told the management that I thought 6AM was too early to be doing construction work so close to people's residencies. He told me that the workers had to start that early to be done before the afternoon when it got too hot. Nevermind the fact that I saw them working at 4PM that afternoon when it was well over 100. The project went on for months. Boards with nails were left out and there was dirt all over the parking lot.

When comparing costs, also factor in that you will be required to move out on the 28th so your lease amount is not a true month. A large portion of your deposit will go to cleaning. It may look good on paper, but when you do that math, it costs about $20-25 more per month.

Overall, I thought the apartment quality is pretty poor for being so new. I am so glad I moved out.

I think whoever wrote this review is the type of person that finds something wrong with anything. Look at that complaints list... what do you expect? I imagine no matter where this person lives, they'll never be happy. Montclair Parc is a desirable and great apartment community in a nice part of town, DEFINITELY not in an area with a loitering problem. These "loiterers" were probably residests walking to or from their car, or outside to enjoy the night air. I wouldn't take this person's word if I were looking for a new apartment.

The commit above is probably from management, I've talked to people who lived in these places and they said the same thing. Management is a HUGE problem. I decided not to live there for that fact.

Regardless if this person is "unsatisfiable," I will still take their comments to heart. I appreciate any feedback I can get for a potential place to live. Maybe gladtobehere459 doesn't care that much for the "little things" but many people do. Sure, no place is perfect. But a residence is a very personal thing and I want my residence, even if it has to be an apartment community, to be as good as possible.
