This place may not be the worst in the area but it certainly has its faults. It s advertised as newly remodeled but that seems to only apply to the units damaged in the 2003 tornado. There isn t new tile or carpet in my unit also advertised in the brochure, only worn carpeting and fake wood floors that are curling at certain thresholds. The floors in my unit are uneven with a large bubble in the hallway. The model apartment/office is definitely not what most of the units really look like. Especially the kitchen, most my drawers are so warped they don t shut all the way. The appliances are newer but the cabinets are old and in bad shape. The minor cosmetic aspects such as the paint were done very poorly with paint spatters all over the place. One of my windows like many of the other units here is missing a screen. The grounds, breezeways and parking lot are also neglected. Concrete needs to be patched on several breezeways particularly the ones on the second floor and there are huge multiple potholes on the west side of the building. The steps to the second story are very slippery when wet mainly because they lack newer tread strips. The staff also never treated the walk ways during the snow and ice storms this past winter. Getting mail or doing laundry was particularly difficult since the sidewalks were like an ice rink. The laundry facility has had problems with a leaking washing machine for almost two months. Instead of fixing or replacing the broken appliance they just unplugged it and moved it to the other side of the room. So now there are only three working washers for this large complex. If you enjoy sitting in the breezeways with friends be aware that there is a complex curfew of 10 PM. The local police make frequent visits to the Springs especially after dark. The sparkling pool is a joke. The staff is mostly indifferent. Getting basic maintenance done takes forever. I ve pretty much given up on some of the requests I ve put in months ago. The selling point for me was the rent but now I wished I had looked around a little more. I also would have liked to have seen this unit before moving in but was told that it was being cleaned. So my advice if you do decide to check out the Springs is to ask to see the unit they offer you. The rent is really good but the complex is not.
