Summer Ridge Apartments

a GOOD review!' How curious From: clarkvinson Date posted: 4/9/2004 Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004   The last review, written 3/29/04, is rather curious, (1) for being the only good review of these apartments (with all 5's) and (2) because it has the line "Summer Ridge is a wonderful and convenient place for seniors 62 and over to live." Does that line sound like an odd thing for the average resident to say' Well, if you call the main number in the little yellow box above you will hear the manager's answering machine say the same thing, verbatim (as of 4-2-04). And, why is the person remaining anonymous if SHE has something good to say about these apartments' The manager was finally fired as of 3/31/04. Good riddance. However, nothing was done until the daughter of a blind resident got through to Senator Inhofe of Oklahoma and to HUD. Then she got a call from the owner of Wilhoit Propeties (owner of Summer Ridge). He sent a representative to interview the residents with the assurance they would not suffer the manager's vengence. After talking to only three residents, the owner's representative fired the manager. Hallelujah. But I would still think twice about moving to this complex. They received numerous letters and calls about the manager and refused to even discuss the matter. The manager's supervisor told me it all sounded like "high school" stuff to him. On another occassion he told me he didn't have to give me a reason for evicting my mother. He was rude, disinterested, and dismissive each time I called. Would you want your loved ones to live in a place with that type of response to complaints' He did a 180 degree change after the owner was involved. I am sure it is not because he was suddenly struck with Christian compassion for the elderly. He was pressured. I would recommend you not move to an apartment where you have to contact a Senator in order to get a response.
