Charged higher rent than other tenants

We lived at Alameda Pointe for three years, and relatively enjoyed it. It's nothing fancy, but we figured it was acceptable for the price range we were in. However, last July we found out that for over a year we had been paying a higher rate of rent than the other tenants. When asked why this was I was told it was due to a student/military discount. I did a little more asking around and found out this excuse was blatantly false - the normal rate offered to all tenants was lower than ours. Then they tried to tell us it was because we had lived there longer. Never in all my experience, nor anyone else that I've talked to, have I heard of an apartment complex that actually penalizes good, reliable tenants with higher rent. We moved because we felt we were dealt with unfairly, and also because it's a little hard to stomach being told such a ridiculous lie to your face. Alameda Pointe had it's good points, just ask around and make sure your paying what everyone else is.
