After visiting family in Dallas, I came back to Norman and as I was nearing about 5 blocks away, I saw 2 Norman police cars, then 3, then 4, then I noticed all the residents within a 4 block radius were all outside as if they just saw something happen. I Pulled into the campus lodge parking lot and there were about 4 more cops speeding around, a couple running on foot. I was told to "lock my door" and call 911 if I see anything suspicious (ie the description of the suspect I was just given by the officer). While I know crime happens pretty much everywhere, I just came to the realization that all together, these apartments really arent worth living in another year. Other than the 'pros' of it being furnished, as well as some portion of utilities covered in the rent, the MANAGING STAFF is useless (not the part-time or maintenance staff). They won't honor your $100 "refer a friend", and the rooms feel more like a 10x10 cage. No living room/balcony storage whatsoever. Worst of all, if your parents come up to visit you, tell them to not enter the parking lot at all because even in the off chance a "visitor" spot is open, the paint on the cement is too faded to see, AND YOUR PARENTS WILL COME OUT TO FIND THEIR CAR TOWED. Seriously, its ridiculous. 4 Tow-trucks in the cover of night, towing people while the visitor spots are all full and there are soooo many other open spaces. I understand the principle of having a "campus lodge" decal, but it just illustrates the managing staffs' poor "discretion" when they allow towing even though we have no parking problems (other than disappearing cars). Bottom line, this place isnt TERRIBLE but there are better places to live that are way closer to school. This property talks big game, but I'd rather trade in this "lodge furniture" for someplace that has a better set-up, and isn't as oppresive when friends and family come to visit. OH and maybe a hot tub too. Cheers.
