Mistreated

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
I moved into Campus Lodge before it switched to new management under Paradigm Properties. At the time, the rooms seemed sizable, rent not too cheap, and the buildings appeared well-maintained. Upon moving in, we found our apartment dirty and paint drops all over the furniture. However, the management took care of the problem immediately, sending a crew to clean up the dried paint and offering to clean our rooms again or give a $50 credit on the first month of rent. The remainder of the first year of my lease went mostly fine, with the office and maintenance crew taking care of most of our problems.
Noise was always an issue, as any conversations in the parking lot are audible at all hours in the bedrooms, and the activity of neighbors and roommates can be easily heard through the thin walls. If you move here, pray that you don't get placed next to (or beneath) a noisy apartment.
Fast forward to this year, when we renewed our lease for $399/mo. at what was a $30/mo. reduction in rent from our first year. Well, by summer Campus Lodge was offering $329/mo. 4-bed 12-mo. leases (identical to our own) and would not let us renegotiate without inviting friends to sign up. Well, we had already brought friends to Campus Lodge, but the management had no interest in negotiating with us. As promotional offers have been passed out to current residents to renew, I have not yet seen any offers that match this rate.
Maintenance has gone sharply downhill since the new management took over. It took the maintenance crew three times to fix our broken refrigerator (3 fridge-loads of food spoiled, which probably cost us about $150-$200 to replace in total). Our door does not close properly in the frame, and despite numerous calls to the front desk, this has not been fixed; we can either lock the door or have it swing open from a gust of wind--very inconvenient when you are entertaining guests! Smaller maintenance issues either take forever to fix or receive no response.
Quite frankly, the management no longer seems interested in taking care of its current residents. If you choose to move into these apartments, be aware that although the rooms are spacious and the private bathroom facilities are a nice touch, you will need to be able to fix most of your issues on your own or simply live with them. Don't expect favors from the Lodge office.
