WAS Great, IS so-so...

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2005
*UPDATE* I've lived here for two years now. In that time, I've come to realize how shoddy these apartments are. They were a great deal, but the rent has jumped up $15 every year.
A 3 bed / 2 bath apartment here *WAS* an AWESOME deal. These apartments were built in 1999, so are near new (compared to almost SOME of the others in Norman that are 20 years old). The new student apartments going up all over Norman are nicer and closer to campus.
The community is decently kept. Those with pets are required to clean up after them but sometimes don't. Common areas (decks, patios, stairwells) are mostly clean. There are NO visible defects in any of the exteriors of the buildings. My building (the 50x building) seems solid enough. No floor creaks (I live upstairs), no loose joints. I can hear my neighbors pretty clearly sometimes through the walls and floor if they get loud enough.
Our sink started leaking sometime around December, and we didn't catch it until January. The apartment made me pay for the repair and replacement of the vanity in the bathroom. I checked the lease; it turns out that if things aren't caught quickly, it becomes the residents' fault.
The management *WAS* awesome. We viewed an apartment in March. 5 months later in August I moved in, and the Staff KNEW WHO I WAS! I can walk in, and they greet me by name! The New staff has no idea who I am.
I really, really like it here. A mix of college students, families, and retirees live here, so the community is extremely well balanced (unlike some others) and *WAS* quiet. Children playing in the afternoon can be a problem, and people tend to hang out on the balconies, creating a little bit of noise.
ALSO, the complex is gated. However, for a while the gate was broken. During this time, a friend's car was broken into and his dashboard was destroyed. It took this occuring for them to fix it.
I used to recommend this place. Now, I say to go live in one of the new off campus "student" apartments.
