I've lived in Cimarron Trails for 3 years. It's been acceptable. When I moved in, they should have replaced the carpet and the wallpaper, but they said they didn't need to. The wallpaper had a giant hole in the middle of it and the carpet was coming up and extremely old. They did allow me to repaper with the paper of my choice, and said they wouldn't charge me for it when I left...we'll see if they do.

As a single woman, I feel safe at Cimarron Trails. My building is extremely quiet. I live upstairs, so it may be noisier downstairs. Problems were usually fixed within a couple of days, except for one major problem (see below). The maintenance staff is really nice and polite. The office staff can be abrupt, but I think they are just stressed. Those are the positives.

Here are my complaints: The apartments seem extremely overpriced for the size. There aren't any numbered parking spots, so you often have to park far away from your apartment. I don't mind this except when I have a load of groceries. There were uncovered manholes in the grass for months, which some little kid could have fallen into. The pools sometimes look hazy. Also, I feel they cheat you on the water and trash. You're billed through a 3rd party company, and the price steadily creeps up every month. Last month it was $30 for a 1 bedroom, 1 person apartment. That meant my tiny 1 bedroom cost $509, and I still had to pay electric, cable, etc. And my biggest complaint is that for an entire year, extremely hot water came out of the cold taps in my apartment. I called the office about it several times, but they always told me there was nothing they could do about it. It was scalding water, and besides being a pain, could be dangerous when you were in the shower or if you had children. Finally I called the city of Norman, they sent an inspector (who was super nice)and guess what' The problem got fixed. It's a shame you have to go that extreme to get something fixed.

I cannot wait until I move out of Cimarron Trails! This place is awful. The management, maintenance and security are terrible! There are better apartments in Norman for the price ... don't let outside appearances deceive you! Compare the other reviews and notice how the negative far outweighs the positive!
