I lived at Echo for almost 2 years and it was a nightmare.
In the time that I lived there, I had a car drive into my living room window, a beer bottle thrown into a bedroom window, and a crazy tenant that would put tape on my front license plate, which he eventually stole! It wasn't even like a nice plate or anything, just a dealership plate which I guess he had a problem with.
He would also write notes that didn't make sense and leave them on cars, seriously.
This complex is completely unsafe unless you are a big tough guy or married to/in a relationship with one that lives with you.
I hated being outside after dark, I never felt safe there.
The apartment itself is spacious, but the complex in itself is completely roach infested.
I don't mean you see a few, they are everywhere! It doesn't matter how clean your apartment is or what you try to do to stop them, you will never get rid of them.
They also have mice, I only saw one on one occasion, but according to a note that went out there, that's a problem as well.
The best thing they could do is bulldoze the complex.
It should be condemned.
The maintenence staff tries to do their job, they always helped me out when I needed them, so I can't complain about that, but the office staff is like a revolving door.
It's a 50/50 chance whether they will be helpful.
The complex was taken over by Carlsbad early '08 and they appeared to be attempting improvements, but that quickly stopped.
The tenants were getting really scary there, if they weren't drug dealers, they were families that would fight at all hours of the day and night.
You could hear everything there.
I would not recommend this place to anyone.
If I could go back in time, I would have kept looking.
I hope you will do the same.
