Thank god my husband and I only signed a six month lease on these apartments! Our building's water has been shut off at least 5 times (WITHOUT NOTICE) since we've lived here. Each time its usually only for an hour or so, but once it was off for 6 hours that I know of. They were working on the sprinklers and didn't give any notice at all, which was a huge inconvience. When I asked --- the manager about why he didn't give any notice, he said it was because he was the 'only one in the office' that day. Which was a lie, because I had called twice earlier and a woman had answered the phone. I think that they shut off the water thinking not many people will notice, as most of the tenants are students and are gone during the day, but this time they ran into some problems perhaps' Either way, it sucked.
Also had a spider problem, which they did come take care of, thankfully.
Tonight I discovered a huge water stain in our ceiling and there is water dripping from it. I can actually hear the water dripping into the closet that contains our a/c unit. Will be calling the office first thing in the morning.
Also the laundry facility is disgusting. There are unfinished floors, trash everywhere and no working lights. I went to go pick up some laundry one night after it got dark and tried several of the switches and the only thing that ever turned on was a heat light (which of course provided no light). One door is nailed shut with a piece of lumber. My husband used the laundry once, and found a tenant actually trying to clean out the place because it was so repulsive. When we moved in the facility was in the same shape, and I thought that it was just being worked on. However, 5 months later it is still in the same condition.
I'm very upset that we pay for things like a laundry room when it is in such deplorable condition. And I'm ticked at the amount of times the water has been shut off, since water is either included in rent, or for our apartment, we pay an extra $18 for the utility.
Prices are jacked up a bit I believe, since the complex is in close proximity to the University. Other then that, though, Post Oak is definitely not worth the money. You can find a much nicer apartment for a comparable price. The only benefits to these apartments are its location (if you're a student) and my building has always been very quiet. No annoying, loud neighboors, although that may differ depending on the building you live in.
