New Management is HORRIBLE

I have lived at Renaissance for almost 3 years. In the Spring of 2005 the complex was sold. I have never had such a horrible experience with a management group in all my years of renting.

My apartment was on the first floor. I woke up on a Sunday morning to find it flooded. Someone had entered the 3rd floor apartment above mine and ripped the hose that connected the toilet to the wall. I was told this by the maintance man that showed up about 30 minutes after my emergency call. Over night it flooded the 3rd floor, then the 2nd floor, and then in the morning, the 1st floor.

Long story short, I had to move my own property, was put in a dirty apartment that was not ready for anyone to live in and I was forced to pay for EVERYTHING associated with the move. The management team, both the on site manager and the owner, have ignored my phone calls and will actually walk out the back door of the office if I go in to pick up a package. I was told I would have to sue them to get any compensation, such as reimbursement for utility hook ups, having to buy boxes, the day of work I missed, my family having to drive down to move me, ETC.

A few years ago Renaissance was the nicest place to live in Norman. Now there are two or three new complexes that make it look like the run down over priced place it is. And don't bother asking for any help from the new management team. Basically, AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. My lease is up in December and I will never look back.

One last thing. The flood occured in June. They have not attempted to clean or repair any of the flooded apartments. They simply locked the doors and left it after a vaccuming. That means all the water in the walls and ceilings and floor has been sitting, in the 100 degree summer heat, growing mold. I hope no one lives in the surrounding apartments, or else their health will be in jeopordy.

The Renaissance At Norman is a beautiful and well maintained upscale property. Unfortunate accidents can happen here as anywhere else. This problem was not a deliberate act; a supply line broke in a vacant unit which is why it went undetected until it had leaked thru another vacant and in to the occupied apartment. There was immediate response to the report as maintenance was in their shop directly across from the apartment. They had been there, stopped the water, started recovery and notified the appropriate supervisors within 20 minutes. 2 maintenance men who where off duty because it was a Sunday, were paid by the owner to spend the day to help pack and move the resident. Management was told immediately by resident that he had a planned family visit and they could help because they had a truck. The resident was shown 3 apartments because the girlfriend of the resident did not like any of the ones shown. The resident and the girlfriend chose the one he moved in to. It was a ready unit and had been cleaned. The resident did not need to miss any time from work because of this. He was off on Sunday. The apartments in question, all 3, have absolutely been repaired. All wet sheetrock was removed and replaced with new. There is not a health hazard or threat to anyone living near the apartments. There are times on any complex when despite all efforts to do the right thing for the resident in a situation like this, you cannot make the resident happy. This is obviously one of those times. One thing we pride ourselves in is immediate response to any emergency and timely response to maintenance calls during normal hours, usually same day. Our maintenance staff lives on site to insure that coverage with no lag time in response. We invite anyone to visit our community and judge for themselves the capability of a caring and attentive staff and the service we strive to provide for every resident.
