When I looked at the show apartment (which has the worst overscaled, rediculous decor ever) I asked specifically if the apartment I recieved would be in as good shape as the show apartment with fresh paint and new appliances and fixtures. Too bad I was lied to b/c my bathroom sink has water damage so badly its rotted through on the bottom and has a layer of mold covering the entire interior of the cabinet. My shower faucet is rotted through and our appliances are old. The so called re-finished countertops are merely spaypainted (although it's the correct type of spray paint for the purpose) and what a crappy spray painting job might I add. They used the lowest grade self-adhesive linoleum floor tiles ever on the floors too. When I first moved in we sent in 3 work requests that were never answered (it's been over 7 months) plus my car was broken into. There are no lights in the bedrooms or living room, how retarded. I'm an interior design major and going over basic multi-family dwelling unit codes there are certain sound retention class rating standards which aren't met. Tenants aren't supposed to hear distinguishable sound coming from other units, too bad I can hear EVERTHING that is said and happens upstairs, I can also hear the fighting conversations happening next door (and guy, just tell her who texted you, even though she gets all those text messages from those other guys and never tells you about them, sure she's a little psychotic but you love each other right') The office staff seems friendly enough when you're looking at moving in, but some, one in particular, act like jerks once you move in. Anywho, the place blows, don't do it!

I've lived at Riverbend for nearly a year now, and I've had every intention of renewing my lease. But I am now considering my options (which is why I'm back on this site!). It's not bad, all things considered, and I've found mangement and staff friendly. But lately they've seemed incompetent. My work order requests have simply been ignored. There is dog feces everywhere on the grounds, which is beginning to nauseate me. The reviewer is right: the show model is far nicer than the apartment that one actually rents. There are few lights in the apartment (one must purchase one's own). The appliances are old (my oven has mismatched and missing parts). My countertops are also spray painted, but this does not really bother me. Don't think that Valu Foods being down the block is a big plus. One has to go to Albertson's (1.5 miles away) to get decent groceries (esp. produce). And the laundromat on the property is foul. Half of the washing machines are broken, and the room is filthy. No one seems to be responsible either for its upkeep or the upkeep of the machines.

Riverbend may ultimately be better than a lot of places in Norman, but (especially if you own a car) keep your options open.
