The Pines was a great place to live from 1998 until the middle of 2003. Some of the problems can be attributed to road work on Alameda Street. The rest seems to be a change in operating procedures regarding management attitude towards tenant needs / customer relations. *MAINTANANCE & UPKEEP ISSUES*Maintanance issues used to be resolved promptly. Now it requires several calls and allot of patience. Maintanance personnel frequently have a surly attitude and act as though you're inconveniencing when you report a problem. The outward appearance of the complex used to be cared for meticulously. Flower beds and planters were cared for and lawns and hedges were always watered and manicured. Presently, all of these things are in a moderately advanced stage of decline. Parking has become a problem because of an excess of junk cars and some have been abandoned. They linger in the lots directly infront of buildings for months at a time. Drains and sewer systems are a reoccuring problem. They back up several times a year. If you have the misfortune of living in downstairs apartment there is the possibility of everyones waste water and sewage flooding your apartment. This happened to me and It took 48 hours to even get somone to come and look at it. Then another week to resolve the problem. The laundry rooms were fitted with new washers and dryers about a year ago. This facility was pretty nice but in the past few months they have become pretty nasty. I always take a broom and cleaning supplies when I do laundry to sweep the lint balls and wipe the caked on detergent inside and outside the washer and dryer. I haven't used the swimming pool in the past two years because it is often green with algae or murky looking.*SECURITY & SAFETY ISSUES* I used to feel quite safe here. This is has changed in the past year. There are frequently scary people lurking around the parking lot and grounds some even hang out of the hall way windows. I was told at one time a "courtesy officer" had been engaged however there is no real way to contact this person. Rules regarding pets are no longer really enforced. I have been accosted by several aggressive dogs in recent months. The tenants who own these pets don't seem to understand how annoying this is. Small children are allowed to play in the parking lots unsupervised.I have seen many close calls where children were almost hit by cars coming through the parking lot.*OVERALL DISSATISFACTION* I use to reccomend The Pines Apartments as a nice, economical, safe, place to live. None of these adjectives apply at this time.

Do you live at the Pines now? Or did you move already. Your comments seem like you currently live her, however your dates say you moved out in 2004. How do you know so much about the Pines if you don't even live here. I have lived here for almost one whole year, and I have nothing but good things to say. I have not seen any derelict cars, or gang members in the parking lot. Also when I go to to the laundry room I have never seen it dirty. You have to have a key to get into the laundry room and its always been neat and tidy. The grounds look better then they did 2 years ago. I remember driving by here around 2 years ago, and I would never even stop because of how trashy it looked. That must have been when the old manager (Bonnie or Vicki) were here. These managers didn't do background checks, and didn't care who lived here. I know this for a fact because I lived at a property that one of them runs now. When I drive by that property, I see the quick deterioration of that property. When old management was here the lawns looked terrible, we actually have flowers now, even with 110 degree temps, they are still being maintained. The pool has been opened since I got here, and has never looked bad. They close it every Monday to clean it. I go to the fitness room and it is great. Clean, cool updated equipment. So I don't know where exactly it is that you do live now, but it must not be the Pines of Norman, because everything you said in your review was totally the oppisite of how it is now.
